iPad Management!

Postby HighchairHostess » Fri Feb 07, 2014 10:33 pm

We got an iPad at Christmas for our 2.5year old... (as well as for our own personal usage)... I think it's a great device for entertaining her in the car or when you really need to get something done, but I'm noticing that she's beginning to get slightly obsessed with it... and when i take it away, OH the tantrums!!
Just wondered how other people deal with it?? It seems to me to bring the best and worst out of them!!

Yeah, major problems hey? My 2.5 year old is exactly the same!!!!
So, i have several strategies for dealing with this,
1) say "it's not on" (as in the tv show or whatever)
2) batteries have run out
3) (and my favourite) Keep it out of sight and therefore out of mind

I am also wrestling with the above but find that using the above has worked but it does mean the technology stays hidden while the little one is up and about. Only time I actively encourage it is flights, car rides etc.. but even then only when all else has failed!

Good luck,

AD

PS - i got an otter box defender which is an amazing protective case that allows the kids to cover it in gunk, drop it and generally abuse it!
