Recommendation for a Gardener

Postby cupoftea » Tue May 18, 2010 12:59 pm

I have just had the pleasure of meeting and using Soul Gardeners, http://www.soulgardeners.co.uk.

Speak to either Danny or Adam: 02086 961778 or 07879 339391

Their email is: soulgardeners@hotmail.co.uk

They were by far the most reasonably priced, and I looked around quite a bit for quotes. In fact, so reasonably priced that I will be using them on a regular basis for my gardening needs.

Adam came and cleared my garden in record time, was friendly and professional. I highly recommend them.

Hey, I am surprised by these posts. I used SG a few weeks back. They were ok at the work but charged me for double the time..they said it would take 4 hours and I took them at their word, but then realised that this 4 hours included 20 minutes to park and get the stuff in, and then about 15-20 minutes to packing up the stuff and then leaving 10 minutes earlier as well. From the way they were moving and chatting etc I believe the work could easily have been done in 2 hours. Also when I said that they were leaving early and they could do some other bits, they started being rude. Definitely not using them again.

Having read the first two posts I booked them and they were professional and friendly and did a good job clearing up. However, I have to agree with tintin with regards to the time. They did an hour literally to the minute, and seemed very concerned with sticking to that, not willing to start pruning elsewhere incase they over ran.
At £40/hr for two of them, they are certainly not cheap either.
More reasonable recommendations please!?

Hello to everybody.

I would just like to reply to these comments as i feel they may not be completely accurate.
Soul Gardeners are a very honest and thourough company, making sure the work is completed to the highest quality. Everything quoted for in these jobs was completed to perfection. Carrying green waste and time taken to set up and pack up is included in the price as this does take time, however the time was quoted for and the price was agreed by the customers before any work is undertaken.
Regarding...'They did an hour literally to the minute, and seemed very concerned with sticking to that'...I feel that it is reasonble to finish when the time quoted for is up, especially since all the work quoted for was completed. It was also a thunder storm at the time, therefore, i feel it was perfectly reasonable to seem in a rush to leave once time was up.
Regarding...'From the way they were moving and chatting etc I believe the work could easily have been done in 2 hours'...I feel that it is reasonable to expect work colleagues to talk whilst they work, especially if it is regarding the work being undertaken. As i stated earlier, quality work takes time.
Regarding...'Also when I said that they were leaving early and they could do some other bits, they started being rude'...The extra work mentioned here was a request that an outside table could be wiped. My colleague ask for a cloth and a cleaning product as we do not have cleaning products.
Regarding...'At £40/hr for two of them, they are certainly not cheap either'...We charge £30 per hr for two professional labourers. £40 is our minimum charge, therefore any work undertaken for and hour or less is still £40. We did discuss this with the customer.

I am sorry that you were not happy, but we have many customers extremely happy with our service and i would not like anybody getting the wrong idea. We are a young, professional company and extremely competitively priced for work at this quality.

Many thanks to cupoftea and claire for your kind words.

I am sorry Tintin and Diva that you were not happy with them.

Diva, with all due respect, of course they would work literally to the minute, why would they work longer than what they are paid for? They are a business.

Since then, I have used them again, and once again, found them to be professional, hardworking, polite and frankly, quite good value for money. I paid £50, and for this, Adam worked solidly for 2.5 hours, transformed my garden from a jungle to a pristine and lovely place to be. He cleared both front and back, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting him to be able to finish in the 2.5 hours I asked him to come for. The extra charge was optional, for him to remove all the rubble, which I chose, otherwise the charge would have been alot less than £50.

So, I still highly recommend them, and will be using them again.

I am with cupoftea on this.

Regarding timing - I imagine that in order to arrive at the next customer on time they need to keep an eye on the clock. I am also conscious that they need to dispose of the waste once they have left me and that takes time.

Regarding cost - I did quite a lot of research and also used other companies. In my experience they are very good value for money especially as (as I understand it) they are trained gardeners. I actually found they did more than I expected them to in the time allotted eg training plants up fences etc.

I will be using them again.

I have just used Soul Gardeners and happily recommend their services - they did a great and caring job cutting back and clearing our jungle like garden, took care tidy up afterwards and certainly know their stuff when it comes to trees and plants. They seem like genuinely nice guys too. I think the price, for the amount of time spent and the end result, was most reasonable.

I'd just like to say that we've also used them (a couple of months ago) and they did a good job, did exactly what we asked of them and stuck to their estimate - our garden is now a much better place and we'll probably get them to come back again! I met one of them - I think it was Danny - and he was very pleasant, and my husband was in when they both came back to do the work and also said they seemed nice and efficient. I don't think £30/hr is bad either - we were quoted much more for the same job by someone else!

Well done Soul_gardener for setting the records straight. I have also been a victim of uncalled for, and inaccurate comments on this website and I think people need to think about just how damaging and hurtful their comments can be.

If it's any consolation, those kind of comments, followed by all the support you have got, make me want to use services like yours all the more! Those who always see the glass as half empty can just go somewhere else!

I would definitely recommend Soul Gardeners.. They spent the day sorting out my jungle of a garden and relaying some lining and stones in my front garden. They were hard working and did a great job. Their price was reasonable for a days work.

My neighbour and I both used Soul Gardener and thought they were brilliant. Would not hesitate to recommend them. Put up a fence for us as well as doing garden and worked 2 12 hour days, completing the job in the dark. Garden and fence looked fab and they were professional, considerate and reliable.

Thanks for the recommendation.
This was a great service, with a very personal approach. We had some tree work done by Soul Gardeners and the price was almost half the price quoted by other companies and they cleaned up everything afterwarks.
Thanks
