Worrying

Postby rebs30000 » Tue Mar 11, 2014 7:31 pm

Just wondering if anybody else had hematoma when pregnant? And how did it work out for you? Or any experiences with bleeding at 13/14 weeks pregnant?? :(

Hi,
Yes I had this. My husband and I rushed to A&E at around this point as I had really heavy bleeding. It was really severe and it was terrifying.
When it settled down they discovered the haematoma and told me that I'd need to rest as much as possible until around 5 months, can't quite remember. This was my second pregnancy so I already had an active toddler so this wasn't really possible but I did my best, worrying all the time.
Anyhow, all was totally fine in the end, and I now have a very healthy 3 year old.
I would do all the best you can to rest but also try not to worry too much as I think it actually made me enjoy this pregnancy much less than my first. I think the risk lessens the longer the pregnancy goes along.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am not bleeding heavily, but it is there and it is red. Im also experiencing cramps which is very worrying :( The doctor said that the hematoma was quite small so not to worry, but that was a week ago and I have just started to bleed again. They didnt offer me any more check ups, or tell me to rest etc but I am trying to rest as much as I can, I have a very active 5 year old too lol. Thank you so much for sharing though, you have made me feel a little more positive. I didnt think it was possible to worry this much :( Glad to hear all was well with you though x

I was under a consultant at C&W as I'd already had a c section with no 1, he was very resassuring and said it's really common and in most cases nothing to worry about. I think the bleed is reabsorbed back into the body so it actually gets smaller. They scanned me to check what it was doing (I was NHS not private) and it reduced as the pregnancy went along.
