I took my kids when they were under 2 to Mauritius and can thoroughly recommend it for anyone wanting baby and toddler friendly accommodation of an excellent standard and excellent value. The beaches are golden sand and safe, the sea always warm, food delicious, and service brilliant compared to Europe. You can hire a daytime nappy to look after little ones in the kid's club on a 1-to-1 basis too.
It was one of the first places I went when I set up my family travel company (now 15 years ago!) and still a favourite.
For me flying with toddlers was best at night (you can do night flights both ways) as they slept (we didn't so much but a few early nights and were fine) so their routine was not too upset so although Mauritius is a very long flight I always found it easier than the Caribbean.
