Recommendation for kids weekend away. Glamping? Festival?

Postby bamse » Tue Mar 18, 2014 3:33 pm

We are planning to go away for a weekend with some friends this summer. We all have kids aged 1.5-6. I would love to either go to a family friendly festival or "glamping". Can anyone recommend somewhere within a 2 hour drive? Or any other recommendations for a great weekend with the kids welcome. I've had a look at featherstone but seems a bit pricy at £500+ for 2 nights for one family! I'd rather stay in a nice hotel for that price!

Hiya,

There is a festival in my hometown in Oxfordshire called 'Wilderness Festival'
I am taking my six month old as it is hugely family orientated!

Have a look online http://www.wildernessfestival.com/

It seems perfect for what you re looking for :)

Thanks! That looks perfect except for the fact that we are on holiday then. But something else along those lines would be great.

I've heard that the Big Feastival is very family orientated. We're giving it a go this year with a 1.5 and 3yo (although cheating by staying at a B&B).

It's a little more than 2 hours but would recommend camp bestival in Dorset - won best family festival a number of times, it's a lovely site with great atmosphere

Good post!

I'm also looking for somewhere to go glamping - just camping without the festival. Anyone know of a place? Preferably out to the west-ish of London.

Not within 2 hours as there is a ferry crossing in the middle, but I can recommend Vintage Vacations on the Isle of Wight. Amazing!!
