Exercise on the common - any 10am classes?

Postby twinmum » Wed Mar 26, 2014 3:18 pm

I like exercising outdoors and so I'm looking for a fun class on wandsworth common. Think more 'Fit for a princess' than 'Military boot camps' but I would have a go at anything.

I just can't seem to find a list of what's on and when - there are loads I'm sure. With a school and nursery drop to negotiate first, I need one that starts at 10 o'clock - but they all seem to be 9.30...

Does anyone do a 10 a.m. one that they would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

I would definitely be interested in this. 9.30 is just impossible to get to. Thank you!

I know a lovely trainer who could do this. He runs a bootcamp in Wandsworth park on Sunday mornings but he moves around Wandsworth and Fulham. He also teaches at virgin active and is a dad so understands women who have children.

I do kettlebells with Jamie Lloyd and love it. Start time is 9.45 just near the Common Ground Cafe. He'll gladly set you up with a trial class- just pm me or reach out to him directly.

I know a lot of people feel it's a bit intimidating but honestly, once you try kettelbells you'll never feel the need to try anything else.

Artur Nowicki who runs Reach4fitness runs a really good circuit class on Sundays in Tooting Bec Common at 10.30am.

He also teaches at Balham & Tooting Leisure Centres and his circuit classes are brilliant (hard work but worth it)

The problem with the kettlebells class is that you have to pay £99 for a month and if you can only go once a week which some people can then that's a lot of money. a real shame that he doesn't do drop in or at least options on pricing like BMF do.

Muddlemoo.. It's funny you say that- I feel the exact opposite. I realised that for that price you can go to any number of classes as often as you'd like so really you have an incredible amount of flexibility.

He has a 6.15, 9.45 and 11 am class on M/W/F... a class in the evening (I think 7?) and a Saturday session. Honestly, if there's a week where I miss kettlebell sessions- it's my own fault.

He also lets you sign up month to month so you can do the months you know you have time to train in. I once signed up mid-month because the start of the month was just too crazy for me. Couldn't be easier, in my opinion. He knows once you start, you'll come back so he doesn't have to rope anyone in.

I agree. All morning classes are too early. I have a baby and want to attend a class where she can be there as well but all the classes seem to be around when she would be napping. A class that started at 10.15 or so for 45 minutes would be ideal. And also doesn't cost too much!

This group does free running/bootcamp sessions at 10.30am on Clapham Common and Battersea Park (and Hyde and Richmond parks) at the weekend:

I'm intending to try the Clapham one someday, haven't got around to it yet!

Hello!

Interesting to hear your views! Our classes our currently at 0615 and 0930 everyday (well almost - our 0930 Thursday class starts 1st May), but we could potentially try a class at 10/1015/1030 if that is what suits you all?

We currently have all our classes as £5 drop in, meaning you don't have to book or become a member.

However, our membership option is great - £55 per month, with the option of 18 classes a week!

Take a look at our timetable to see what's on: http://www.fitforaprincess.co.uk/sw_lon ... table.html

We would love your opinions on a later morning class so please get in touch with princess@fitforaprincess.co.uk.

Thanks,

Sarah and the Fit for a Princess Team

Another big thumbs up for Jamie Lloyd's kettlebell classes - I agree with everything Soriano said. You can even take your baby to the 11am class (might be 10.45). It's run for mums and Jamie will push the kids around if they are screaming. Usually a couple of mums there with toddlers as well.

It really helped me to get back in shape after my daughter was born. The classes are really friendly and suit all abilities. You decide how hard it is as you select the weights you lift.

Jamie does a trial session if you are interested.
