Disgusting tweet by Sadiq Khan MP

Describing someone looking forward to another's death as "witty" - another epic fail from Balham & Tooting's hapless MP Sadiq Khan.

he's not 'looking forward to this death' though is he?

it is very clearly a joke. it's not in the best taste but can't see it's anything to get your knickers in a twist about.

Joking about someone's death? All in favour of our right to offend people but I think this goes beyond tasteless. Banter down the pub with a bunch of mates may be one thing, but it really does call into question the judgment of our elected representatives, not to mention their weird and twisted sense of humour.

A very poor tasting, albeit private joke, from Neil Kinnock to Sadiq Khan. Very very bad error of judgement shown by Khan in thinking to tweet the contents though. I can only imagine Kinnock is furious.

I'd say it's the Daily Hate's desperate attempt to portray Labour as the nasty party to deflect from the Tories. Poor taste, yes but hardly warrants a full page spread!

papian - remind everyone about this in May next year ... if people vote for him they get what they deserve, someone that thinks that letter is either funny, reasonable, or proper in this society. It's none of these things ... consequences for actions wrt MP's ... of course not

Whatever your politics and feelings on the matter, it does at least raise the profile of the dispossessed fund which I think is worth supporting.

What a lot of fuss about nothing. Apart from anything else the first bit is funny and it was Neil Kinnock who wrote it. This is really scraping the barrel in order to smear a good local MP.

Anyone who has ever approached Mr. Khan for help will know what a fantastic MP he is. Very efficient, seemingly interested and involved in his community and an all round nice man. Let's not forget politicians are also prone to a bit of tastless banter every once in a while. Just like the rest of us.

Consequences for his actions? Like what, exactly? Perhaps you were hoping for an arrest, or for Sadiq to be fired from the Shadow Cabinet?

If people are offended enough by what was clearly a joke (not even made by him), then they won't vote for Sadiq. Democracy, innit. I strongly suspect that barely anyone really cares.

Incidentally, my favourite bit of the article was this: "A Tory source added: ‘It’s nastiness like this which shows why Sadiq Khan isn’t fit to be Mayor of London. And if he keeps taking political advice from "legend" Neil Kinnock, he never will be"

Quite apart from an alarming logical leap in referring to a joke made by someone else as nastiness from Sadiq Khan, it's almost comically easy to counter this by pointing out the countless faux pas that Boris has made.

A fairly ridiculous lapse in judgment, though I don't care so much about what he tweets as much as the fact he doesn't respond to letters and treats every constituency engagement as nothing more than a photo op.

Furzedown - I was talking more about MP's collectively and the lack of consequnces for their actions. I care however about Sadiq Khan, his policies and his views. Mostly because I can't stand labour MP's and the way the majority pretend to care about the "working man". Very interesting program about Nigel Farage on TV last night. Winning labour voters because the labour party is unrecognisable as a socialist movement.
