Cypus is it hot in May?

Postby Balhammom » Sun Apr 13, 2014 4:55 pm

Is Cyprus a good destination for early summer? Anyone with any experience?

Wanting to get some sun but not spend hours on a plane :) Have been in Oct to Paphos and it was pretty good, although short days, not sure if it will be the same in May. Probably early to mid rather than end of May?

Thanks!

Cyprus is lovely in May, warm enough to sunbathe but avoiding the scorching heat of high summer.

There's a great special offer at Le Meridien Limassol, a 5-star family friendly hotel in Cyprus, with 15% off and a free upgrade from bed & breakfast to half board, see here:

From experience, I think early May could be a bit hit and miss. We've been in June and it was warm and sunny and October, when it was mostly good (one stormy day in a week) but a bit chillier in the mornings and evenings.

Friends have been in early May before and the outdoor pool and one or two of the outdoor terrace restaurants weren't open until mid May. Best to check with the hotel you have in mind I would think.

Lovely though and not a bad distance to fly with little ones. Tenerife might be a bit more reliable at that time of year and a similar distance. Or Greece?

We're in Cyprus now and it is definitely warm (25 degrees) for mid-April. Very good for sunbathing (bearable heat) but the sea (stunning turquoise colour) is still too cold for my liking. We make do with the hotel's heated outdoor pool.
