Christening present ideas please

Postby beachview » Wed May 07, 2014 9:02 am

Hello,

I would appreciate some ideas for a christening present for a little girl. I'd love to buy her something she can keep forever and happy to spend up to 120 or so. The family live overseas and are coming over for the event so it needs to be something easily transportable.

Thank you :O)

What about a silver charm bracelet? I bought one with three age appropriate charms when my goddaughter was christened. On every birthday and Christmas since, I've added a new charm representing the previous year in her life. I bought the bracelet in a big child size rather than baby size so that it would fit a little longer.

What about getting her the complete collection of Beatrix Potter's little books. It comes in a lovely box. Officially retails around £140 but you can get it on ebay for around £33.

See here for example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-World-of- ... 1239784019

I think it's a beautiful, timeless and useful present.

oops sorry I didn't see the "easily transportable" bit - forget the books!

Thank you both for your great ideas.

The transportable bit is tricky as wanted to get a couple of vintage art pictures but again not easy to take back. Maybe I look into shipping something.

Thank you :O)

I've just been browsing for some ideas for my nephew, so not really applicable for a little girl. I really like the idea of the charm bracelet though - I'll remember that in case I ever have a god-daughter!

Another suggestion would be a St Christopher's pendant necklace (the patron saint of travellers).

Hi beachview,

I think probably this wouldn't count as transportable (although many of our prints have been taken overseas, and the small ones can easily be packed in a suitcase)... but in case I can tempt you, take a look at the personalised prints we do:

or https://www.facebook.com/RabbitandCo

Hope this is useful.

My daughter received a few lovely things - links do some lovely silver charms or initials if you want something that isn't just child size jewellery.

She also got an antique copy of Alice in wonderland - it was £200 from a shop in the west end I think but obviously prices could vary hugely.
