Without a doubt, the new Skylark Cafe has to be on the top ten places to eat in Wandsworth' list! It's the cafe in the middle of Wandsworth Common that's been taken over by new owners. It's next to the bowling greens and used to be called 'Common Ground'. It's where 'Amanda's Action Club' holds classes.
'Skylark' is amazing on so many levels; Firstly the food is delicious. They've put in so much obvious work to source the best ingredients. For example, their lamb meatballs are made with Salt Marsh lamb (arguably the best lamb!) and their sausages have been sourced from a little farm in Dorset. Delicious!
And the menu is so creative, so different (in a GOOD way!) and nearly everything either has a gluten free option or is Gluten free. They have paid excellent attention to the kids menu. Everything is made from scratch and it's so refreshing to have nutritious food to choose from. They even have organic baby purées to buy (homemade!) or scrambled eggs for the really tiny ones, or for the 'bigger' ones, my two year old daughter had a pizza yesterday; whole meal homemade base, homemade mixed vegetable 'red' sauce, cheese and ham, so without knowing it she was getting loads of veg in her!
The staff are so lovely and attentive. Really helpful when you're struggling with two kids and all the paraphernalia that comes with them! It's a world away from the cafe it used to be and my husband and I are seriously impressed. Best of all it's great value for money. For eg, we had lunch there yesterday (two adults, two children, drinks, coffee etc), and only paid £35!!! Where on earth can you eat OUT in this area for that amount (and eat WELL and be stuffed?!) Fabulous coffee too!
Well done Skylark, see you again very soon!
