Restaurants in Rome

Postby catherinedonal » Fri May 09, 2014 10:44 pm

Hello,

I am going to Rome with my husband for 5 days without the little one for the first time! :D

We are celebrating are 10 years wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday so wanted to find a few really nice restaurants to go to during our time there.

Any advice?

Hi this is my suggestion list!

Very good fish and great atmosphere in Trastevere
La Gensola
http://www.osterialagensola.it (Booking essential)

Da Benito e Gilberto in the lovely Borgo Pio. Not as intimate as the one above
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant ... Lazio.html (booking essential)

Hosteria Glass 1* Michelin - fish restaurant highly suggested
http://www.glass-restaurant.it (booking essential)

Colline Emiliane Mainly meat dishes, amazing flavours. Have a light lunch if you are heading there in the evening. Via veneto area.
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant ... Lazio.html (book well in advance)

Da Checco (that's what Romans call it but the real name is da Francesco) Vibrant restaurant behind piazza navona (drink at bar della pace before hand is a must- near the Chiostro del Bramante that I suggest visiting)
https://m.facebook.com/ristorantedafrancesco?_rdr (no booking, if peak time there might be a wait)

La Montecarlo - my personal favourite roman pizza, it's in via del governo vecchio area
La Montecarlo (no booking same as above)

They are due to open an eataly in London soon. Great place to eat delicious and very high quality produce. An experience not to miss http://www.eataly.it/blog/negozi-italia-roma/

Recently opened by one of best fish suppliers in Rome da Sor Dulio in the via Chiana area. Honestly worth travelling from where you are staying. Very popular with Romans! Check opening days as it's open 4 nights a week https://m.facebook.com/SorDuilioSecondo?_rdr
Enjoy! ciao

I haven't been there for years, but used to love La Matricianella on Via del Leone. Very typical Roman food and reasonably priced.

Here are my suggestion (and a world of advice, be ware of the turistic restaurant , they are often pretty awful!)

-Marzapane, Piazza Fiume area ;

- Le Colline Emiliane, Via degli Avignonesi, 22 (just off Barberini Square);

- La Matricianella, Via del Leone, 4 (close to Piazza in Lucina, where you can enjoy an aperitif while watching Romans' stroll at Bar Ciampini);

- Enoteca Ferrara, Trastevere;

- LA.VI., Via Tomacelli (near Via Condotti), new people watching spot for an aperitif or an after-dinner drink;

- Eataly, Ostiense area (a bit off track, but if you decide to go, try the Pizza Margherita);

- Il Sorpasso, Prati area, close to the Vatican (very popular spot nowadays among young professionals for aperitif/dinner);

- Romeo, Prati area (new restaurant of the Roscioli’s family);

- Roscioli, close to Campo de’ Fiori .

Dont forget to go to see Rome from a view , the best are 1) Pincio at Villa Borghese, 2) the very Romantic Giardino degli Aranci , Aventino Hill ,nearby you can see St Peter from a little key hol, 3) Gianicolo, 4) from the very top of the wedding cake ( Altare della Patria) in Piazza venezia!! Enjoy!!

Thank you for all your advices, I will definitely check those places when in Rome.
Does anybody knows a restaurant which has a very good view and not too expensive?
