Sash windows repair

Postby MaritaB » Mon Jun 02, 2014 7:51 am

Can anyone recommend a good company who can repair and refurbish original sash windows? We have received one quote from Wandsworth Sash Windows, but would like to get some other quotes for comparison.

Thanks

Hello

We use a company called MTM Herman. They were recommended to us and have always done a great job. Reliable, tidy and always on time.

Their website is www.mtm-herman-joinery.co.uk or give Mirek a call on 07885 551724.

Any questions let me know.

We have just had an extensive house renovations (loft, side return, floors, plumbing and rewireing) and had all of our sashes restored and draftproofed, as well as having new bathroom and loft sash windows put in.
I can't recommend enough the guys we used as the most reliable, professional, detailed and fair priced, and trust me - after 10 months of renovations I have had some cowboy tradesmen!
Guys are Polish, called George and Adam and based in Brixton, details on their website http://www.asashrepair.co.uk/ and I have already had people over that are considering to use them to show the work that they have done.
I'm also getting a quote for the staircase and internal doors from them as the 3 painters we had were not good with woodwork.

We've just had Ventrolla do all of the windows in our house. They did a great job. Very professional sales team, great fitters and good after sales support.

They certainly weren't the cheapest but the people we bought the house from had Ventrolla refurbish the front bay windows ten years ago and they are still as good as new today (these were the only windows in the house we didn't need to do!).

Warning: Do not use Wandsworth Sash Windows

They have performed a completely unacceptable installation of double glazing door and window units in our house.

Appalling workmanship, damage to our roof tiles, attic wall, burglar alarm

They refuse to rectify it fully and Tony is an aggressive individual who is also incompetent

We have reported them to trading standards and face a lengthy legal battle

That sounds a bit steep. We paid £1300 + vat to replace the sash window (single Victorian) in our spare bedroom. That included a whole new box frame, double glazed sashes, window furniture and painting.

Hi we used SPS Timber Windows and were extremely happy with the product and service.

We also paid £1300 plus Vat for a single box sash window.
