Gift for a new mummy

Postby erwheaton » Mon Jun 02, 2014 2:27 pm

I want to get something special for a friend who has just had a baby - something for her as opposed to the baby (will get something for him too but wanted her to feel spoilt) and would welcome any suggestions?

thanks

Is it her first child? If so then a few indulgences for while she's at home; a calming candle to burn when she finally puts her feet up! Some body lotion to make her feel indulged (not just smelling of baby milk) personally my biggest treat would be some Aromatherapy Associates body oil, never buy it for myself as it's too expensive so to receive as a gift is wonderful!
If 'smellies' are too cliched or not what she'd like how about a magazine subscription? Maybe a weekly one, so it's frequent, to Grazia?

There is a website called not on the high street they have some amazing special gifts. I had a lovely picture made of my son's first year for grandparents which they loved.

Www.thefoodstork.com do amazing beautiful presented food parcels - nothing nicer for a new mum than a beautifully stocked fridge full of fresh organic meals!! They also do delicious award winning brownies, it's been a real hit when I've sent it to friends x

how about Bee's Pantry http://www.beespantry.com/
Home cooked food - lunch and sups - delivered daily to your door. The food is fantastic and it has been a huge hit with new mums - I have given a few WEEK vouchers and my friends have loved it!

How about a First Aid course? an amazing gift to give them the confidence to help in an emergency. We provide great First Aid gift vouchers that can be used for one of our scheduled courses, or a bespoke one that they can organise with friends. A unique and very special gift for new parents.

Please contact emma@firstaidforlife.org.uk, tel: 02086754036, or visit our website www.firstaidforlife.org.uk and we would love to help.

If you are comfortable around babies then give her a voucher of your time to let her have a night off. She could use it either to have a night out with her partner or just catch up on a couple of hours of sleep. And keep telling her what an amazing mum she is.

This may be a bit random but when I had my first I really wished someone would give me a lingerie voucher so I could buy a pretty maternity bra rather than my budget mothercare ones!
Definitely a present that can be enjoyed without it requiring taking up time if that makes sense. Someone gave me a talking book which was very thoughtful.

When I had my son my best gift was a hair Blowdry or going to get my nails done! Also, Urban Retreat at Harrods do a 4th trimester healing hour massage which was wonderful - present from the husband, I loved it!

Bee's Pantry is absolutely worth a look. Delicious, wholesome home cooked food. A really fabulous service and such a luxury to not have to think about preparing meals!
