Taking buggy on easy jet

Postby Tilly&Roo » Thu Jun 12, 2014 3:39 pm

Just wanted to check if anyone has flown with easy jet recently and taken a buggy with them in a buggy bag? I'm somewhat shocked by their luggage prices (38 pounds per way per bag! ) so I was going to try and stuff the buggy bag with as much stuff as possible including any liquids (as buggies as free). I don't usually use a buggy bag but have one. Does anyone know if they actually check to see if there's just a buggy in there? Thanks

I used to do that with a travel cot and they never checked. I used to put kids' books and a couple of blankets in with the cot.

Hi,we fly Easyjet a lot and I never had to pay extra for the buggy. I never used a buggy bag either. I get to the gate with the buggy and just before boarding they take the buggy and they put it on the plane.

Sorry I just re-read your question. They would know what is in the buggy bag because they would scan it.

We have a lot of experience flying Easy Jet a lot with a buggy bag (sometimes with extra items inside the bag).

On our most recent trip the other week, we packed a lot of items in our Bugaboo buggy bag that were obviously non buggy related like clothes, toiletries and liquids. To my surprise, at the bag drop in Schipol Airport, an Easy Jet staff member asked us to open the buggy bag, discovered all the additional gear and gave us the choice of either paying about 100 euros to check in the buggy bag as oversize luggage with extra weight or checking in the items in a normal sized bag for the normal price. Thank goodness we had a suitable bag that we could check in.

This is the first time we have actually had to open our buggy bag. It's also the first time that I wasn't able to get away with additional weight, despite having a fidgety toddler and crying newborn in tow. While it could just be something that the Easy Jet staff in Schipol Airport do, to be on the safe side I recommend against adding too many obviously non buggy related items into the buggy bag. If you do want to give it a go, however, I suggest that you bring a lightweight foldable bag along that you can pull out to pack your items in just in case Easy Jet don't let you store the additional items in the buggy bag!

Happy travels!

We flew with them on Saturday and you don't have to pay for a buggy. You can take it right up to the gate/door to the plane and then fold it up and they put it in the hold for you - no extra cost. You are allowed to take 2 pieces of baby equipment for free if your child is under 2 - this can be a buggy, a travel cot, a backpack, car seat etc
