Last Thursday just before 7:30pm a police car with blue lights flashing pulled up at my house to rush me to King's College hospital as the love of my life and father of my two children had been involved in a serious bike accident and was fighting for his life.

Other than his helmet, what saved his life was being airlifted to King's so he could get urgent care quickly. They have an appeal to build a helipad right in the hospital (they currently land in a park and transfer in by ambulance) so crucial, life-saving time can be saved when it is needed most.

Please, please donate if you can and post these details anywhere you can think of to get as many people as possible to donate too. He is very slowly recovering now but the air ambulance saved his life. Simple as that. To donate, text TIME to 70800. Thanks.

I realise that King's is not actually in Nappy Valley, but it is the best trauma centre in the country, which is why he was airlifted there. The point is to get the most critical patients to the best possible place for them as soon as possible.

Just wanted to bump this post. 2.5 weeks later and he's still in hospital - but he wouldn't be so lucky if it weren't for the air ambulance. Please help if you can.

My young cousin was riding a motorbike and had a crash 6 months ago yesterday.

He is still very poorly in hospital.

He was resuscitated twice at the scene and flown to hospital by helicopter.
If the helimedics wasn't available that day, andwasnt as quick as they were, he may not of made it to hospital.

Minutes really do matter.

Kings needs this helipad.

St Georges has one.

I'm one of the nurses at Kings A and E, our job is extremely challenging but also very rewarding. At the moment like op stated we are trying to raise the funds for a helicopter pad at kings. By having this facility it will save countless more lives as in trauma EVERY second counts. Thank you so much to the original poster who despite having the worry and concern of her partner being unwell decided to raise awareness of this. I hope he's on the mend, and once again thank you for raising awareness. Cycling, even in London, is incredibly safe as long as you wear a helmet and are acutely aware of the risks and take sensible precautions to protect yourself. My other half was involved in a totally freak accident so please don't be put off cycling - it could just as easily have happened while driving, as a pedestrian or anywhere really. The main thing I want people to realise is that a completely unexpected, random accident could unfortunately happen anytime so it's vital that life-saving services, like air ambulances, are in place. Kiss your loved ones and make sure they know how much you love them.
