Nursery reccos

Postby Impy_2014 » Mon Jun 23, 2014 8:33 pm

Hi there

I'm a first time mum in the Wimbledon area and after spending the last 9 weeks shovelling nappies, am starting to think about nurseries (some might say I've already left it a bit late). On the upside - Wimbledon is full of options but as a result it's proving a challenge trying to identify which are the better ones

Are there any suggestions as to how to whittle down nurseries e.g. does Ofstead apply at that stage or are there Nursery ranking tables?

Also is there such a thing as a feeder nursery - we would love to consider Kings College School in the future so was wondering if most of the children there attend a particular nursery - would be nice for little one to move through schools with friends.

Appreciate your thoughts

We have been at dicky birds on queens road since my little one was 12 months old and are very happy there. Friends at the Dundonald branch are also very happy. They have evenings when you can go in and discuss progressing to the local fee paying schools with the owner. I haven't done that but have a friend who has had long chats with her about it and she seems very knowledgable . Perhaps you could try that.

I visited all the nurseries in wimbledon and DB felt right for me. At the time the ofsteds for all of therm were pretty similar. Unless ofsted criticise it I would go with your gut feeling.
