Pregnancy after miscarriage

Postby Anna1103 » Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:15 pm

Hello, I had a miscarriage almost a year ago. I was 19 weeks in :( Since then I have been on contraception pills and have waited for some time to pass, but now ready to try again. I've heard that taking a low dose of aspirin everyday helps to prevent miscarriage? Has anyone heard this before, or any suggestions at all you may have would help :)

The short answer is, I have heard this theory before but as to whether it really works, it depends on what is the reason for the miscarriage. Eg if there was something inherently wrong with the fetus, aspirin will not prevent miscarriage. There are many many causes of miscarriage...I am sure you have done your own research but I found Lesley's Regan's book 'understanding miscarriage' a real help myself. She is a leading doctor in this field and the book dispels all sorts of myths, explains the various causes and most importantly might put your mind at ease as to what you should and should not be doing.

As someone who has been there many times, I know it is a minefield knowing what advice to follow. I also found the zita west clinic a great help - a consultation there might put your mind at ease and help you work out if you need any extra help, medical or alternative treatments. (I now have 3 children so there is light at the end of the tunnel!)

Good luck!

hi, can i recommend you go to see an holistic medical professional, such as an ayuvedic practitioner or a tradtional chinese doctor? they are usually very skilled at exploring these issues, working out exactly what you and your body need (rather than the standard western medical approach that treats everyone the same) and are really sensitive to the emotional side of things too
i'm happy to recommend some people if you want
all the best

Yes, I have heard this too & I was recommended by my Consultant to take a small dose daily. 2 a day of the 75mg dispersible aspirin tablets that you can buy from a chemist.

I had 2 miscarriages before my DS who is now almost 3, then another miscarriage when he was 13 months old, sadly I have never conceived again in the last 18 months of trying despite having got pregnant straight away 4x.

I would also look into the alternative options such as acupuncture etc & I hear very good things about Zita West.

Good luck & PM me if you would like to chat more.
