Hi

My husband and I went to Sinabro on Battersea Rise last weekend and we were really impressed with it. The food was fab and the husband and wife team very lovely. And the meal was great value too!

relatively inexpensive - cuillo's or whatever it's called now on balham high road.

relatively expesnive - chez bruce.

both great for the money IMO.

I believe chicken shop is owned by soho house group. They own dirty burger and pizza east too. So not sure necessarily "independent". I do like their chicken though!

Am bumping this great thread, on the "use it or lose it" basis for so many great local eateries!

We are huge fans of Roxie's, Ben's Canteen, the Thai Grocer, Il Girasole, Chez Bruce, Numero Uno, The Good Earth, Soif et al, but I particularly wanted to give a shout out for Lagu, which we'd never have found had it not been for recommendations on this site. We went for Sunday lunch with a baby and a 4 year-old, and the food was fabulous. Only thing to note is that they only have one highchair, so bring your own (or get there first and eat fast!) Also Skylark is absolutely fantastic for lunch with friends - tonnes of highchairs, and significantly a vast selection of cake.

Did anyone mention Trinity?! Mien Tay?

Is there room for Rick's on Mitcham Road? Great independent restaurant - family run and a bit of an institution. Also Cut the mustard on Moyser Road in furzedown

Great timing to have this post up top again as I woke up this morning wanting to spread the word about Bellevue Restaurant.

It's the one just around the corner from Brinkley's on Trinity Road which used to be Bellevue Rendez-vous. It's been taken over by Gazette and we had a really good meal there last night. Modern french food with great service. I had fish followed by fish, both of which were delicious, but then had a serious case of food envy over my husband's steak - absolutely melt-in-the-mouth, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Creme brulee was gorgeous, as was the Espresso Martini. ;)

Good value too and I spotted that that Table d'Hote menu, which was £20 for two courses and £24 for 3, is half price on Monday to Friday lunchtimes!

It was busy last night so had a good buzz, but still thought it worth spreading the word.

If the thread was about the best 10 places to go for a good glass of wine, I would strongly recommend you try humble grape on battersea rise. I can't believe we didn't go before.
They have fantastic wines at reasonable price, the place is very relax and the staff is very knowledgable. Overall we had a great night out, lots of laugh and we learnt a lot about wine.

If Barnes is not too far, I went to Sonny's the other night for the first time in yonks - fantastic food, and reasonably good value for the standard.

I think Marina O'Loughlin is an amazing food writer and she loves the Manor in Clapham, it's one of her Top 50 in the UK.
