Hello,

My 3 year old daughter has chicken pox but apart from a few spots is perfectly healthy and full of beans. I'm a self employed personal stylist and am feeling very guilty about leaving her in front of endless Barbie movies, while I try to work. So I'd like to go on a mini day trip today around London.

Any ideas where we can go and not have to ring a little bell enforcing an exclusion zone!!

I have one more week of this I think I might go a bit crazy

Any ideas appreciated.

It's hard isn't it. You can go wherever you like and if you had older children you would have to take your daughter with you to collect them from school. When I was in that situation though I put the plastic rain cover over the buggy to try to limit the infection a bit.

It would be lovely for your daughter to have a day out to break the monotony. I'm not sure how lovely it will be for the family whose child catches the chicken pox from her and has to cancel a long awaited and looked forward holiday though or for the family who have a child who is immunosuppressed due to treatment for leukaemia and having a rare day out.

Perhaps a compromise idea might be to have a drive through Richmond Park, look out for deer and have a picnic in the car - perhaps asking a friend to drop off a lovely new toy for her later that will entertain her at home - trampoline, dance mat, lego set, etc..

It will pass and in the meantime perhaps you could invite a friend to play who has either had chicken pox or whose mum wants him/her to have it.

Oops, sorry posted the help message again by accident.

Thanks for your suggestions, all her friends at nursery today, but will try tomorrow to see if any of them who have had chicken pox are free.

I might get ticked off for this but we were in car. I took my child to Whipsnade....saw all the animals from the window seat.....he loved it!
