Should I take my carseat on an aeroplane

Postby hworsley » Mon Jul 28, 2014 4:40 pm

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of taking car seats on aeroplanes for their children to sit in? Was it worthwhile? How did you transport it through the airport?

About to fly to Dubai, booked a seat for my daughter but not sure if its more hassle than its worth to take it with me?

Also how do you strap it in using the lap belt? I've got a maxi cosi Tobi group 1 (non isofix) so wondering if its even compatible!

Hi there
I looked into this last month, check with the airline if they allow car seats on board for kids to sit in - I flew short haul to France with Cityjet and they told me they don't allow kids to sit in them..
Apart from that no idea if it's worthwhile, my bubba is still tiny and travels on my lap for now.
Have a good trip!

I investigated this sometime ago , check with the carrier in the event that they permit auto situates ready for children to sit in - I flew short pull to France with Cityjet and they let me know they don't permit children to sit in them

On BA short haul flight, i remember you are allowed to take them onboard and put the little one in except during take off and landing. Of course, if you don't pay for a separate seat for your LO, this is subject to there being a free seat next to you.
I think each airline has its own policy, so best to check with them in advance.

It is a risk as they can be damaged in transit. You are then stuck with a broken seat, having to find a last minute one when you are there and buy a new one when you get home...
