August Bank Holiday hotel/cottage ideas??

Postby RunnerBean » Tue Jul 29, 2014 10:01 am

Hello - we've managed to get an extra few days off work over the bank holiday and desperately looking for late availability on some family friendly hotels or cottages - anyone got any recommendations for websites or actual places that might be good? Just the two of us plus baby. Thanks!

Have you tried www.luxuryfamilyhotels.co.uk?

We stayed at Polurrian Bay down in Cornwall. Its a mission to get there but once you arrive its magic. They have a creche for kids included in the price of your stay so you can have a couple of hours a day to yourself. They also have baby monitors that you can use for free that work around the whole hotel so you can enjoy evenings in the restaurant our out on the terrace without worrying. The Spa area isn't much to get excited about--functional rather than luxurious-- but the rest of the hotel is lovely. I would certainly recommend it.

Enjoy your holiday when you find something!

We have actually just got back from New Park Manor in the New Forest! We had a lovely time. Parts of the hotel are a little tired, but the staff in the creche are so sweet that we didn't really mind about that. I would recommend it as the babysitting monitor is great and we had a lovely dinner in the evening. There is also a gym, pool and spa so you can have a massage, get your nails done etc

The lady at reception also recommended Moonfleet Manor as it is on the beach in Dorset I think. That's our next plan!

Have a lovely time wherever you decide to go.

Hi Runnerbean,

I work for Luxury Family Hotels and everything that's been said so far is true!

We have 8 hotels but 7 of them are most suitable for your needs as they include the baby listening / sitting and the 2 hours of free childcare each day of your visit.
Our ethos is that we embrace families, so children are welcomed rather than tolerated and everyone has a true break.
The hotels are: Polurrian Hotel and Fowey Hall in Cornwall, Moonfleet Manor in Dorset, New Park Manor in the New Forest, The Ickworth in Suffolk, Woolley Grange in Wiltshire and The Elms in Worcestershire.

Our central reservations team will be happy to help you find the best hotel for your needs, they can be contacted on 0844 482 2152. If I can help at all, please let me know.

Kind regards,

Kathryn Hellewell

Hotels we tried with a baby and that were good are

Cowley Manor (pool doesn't have limiting hours for children and we laid our daughter in the lounge on a blanket and everyone thought it was so cute )

Calcot Manor (crèche and kids club. A bit too child friendly for us as it's really rammed packed with children )

Lucknam Park (old fashioned hotel but modern spa and lovely staff)

Limewood is a bit too busy for kids I think. The Pig is supposed to be great. Both in the New Forest. They also now hVe a Pig in Dorset.

There are cottages in Norfolk with a common pool. I can't remember the name but if you google luxury cottages Norfolk you'll find them.

Baby friendly bolt holes is Lao a good site to check for last minute availability.

More ideas on my blog if you have time/inclination to look.

Good luck !
