A good jeweller in Hatton Gardens Post Reply

My brother is going to pop the question to his girlfriend and I've agreed to help him choose a ring. I would love to be able to take him to nice, honest jewellers who isn't going to rip us off. He doesn't have the biggest budget in the world but enough to get something gorgeous I'm sure. Has anyone been to or used a jeweller in Hatton Gardens that they would recommend?? My brother works near there and we only have his lunch breaks to shop.

Any recommendations would be great!! Thank you!

Try Rennie and Co. They cater for a real range of budgets and produce some beautiful pieces and are really helpful (mind you- our experiences are from over a decade ago!)

Try Arlington and Co at number 11. Bought my engagement ring there 4years ago and went back for wedding bands 2years ago because they were so lovely. They have agood range and the staff are charming and knowlegable with a real sense of occasion. Atmosphere was so relaxed compared to otger places on thevstreet and they were gracious and charming again through the negotiation process. Although They made a great fuss of all their customers I didn't feel like I was getting the hard sell at all. I was so indecisive I ended up on first name terms with all the staff.
In the end we picked an engagement ring which had been designed in house, met the chap who designed it and sipped a glass of champagne while we made arrangements for payment (though I think they only break out the bubbles at the weekend from what I can tell). It was a lovely experience. I've been back since to have my rings resized and cleaned before the wedding too. All included in the original price.

I'm sure that they are probably not the cheapest on the street but they seemed comparable to me. I cannot recommend them highly enough as you can tell.

Rennie and Co. are great. My engagement ring and our wedding bands all came from there, and when I lost my engagement ring (oops) they were incredibly helpful with our insurers and the new ring is as lovely as the first. They have beautiful designs and have a wide range of prices. Very nice people too.

Does it have to be Hatton Gardens? I believe you will pay a bit extra for the same product because it's from the famous Hatton Gardens

Try http://www.dennisandlavery.com/. They do bespoke service (or you can choose their designs of course) and I know for a fact they are better priced than HG. Remember, it's mainly the quality of the diamond you are paying for

I have a fantastic jeweller up there who works from his apartment (so the cost of shop rent is not built into the price of the piece). Everything is bespoke and he can help to design it. He is far better value than a shop and can make things to any budget. You can also go and select the stones yourself. The company is called Heath Diamonds. I have a fantastic jeweller who is based out of London (so you don't pay ridiculous London prices) but he's happy to travel up to London and bring pieces with him if you have an idea of what you're looking for and your budget.
He and his partner are ex Burlington Arcade jewellers so they really know their stuff and specialise in antique pieces (if your brother is on a tight budget - you get a lot more bling for your buck if you buy antique and much more original too!).
We had lots of fun looking/trying on to narrow down choices to a few styles and then bought my engagement ring from him - 1920's/Art Deco and I absolutely love it.

We can highly recommend the family that run Bedazzl on Greville street (side street off H gardens).... Bought our engagement rings & wedding bands off them when they ran another jeweller and were so impressed that we tracked them down to their next place for my 'push present'! (Btw don't be put off by the cheesy name - they bought it as a going concern & decided not to change it).

Two major things make them different - their service & creativity.

They weren't pushy AT ALL - just really lovely (the couple are in their early 40s I'd say, with young kids; her mum helps out too and the other sales girl is also great), they really know their stuff though. You don't need to be at all 'prepared', you can take your time etc. I think they even allow exchanges if you have bought something 'off the shelf' and your fiancé sees something she prefers (!!). They'll polish your rings every year for free and have done 2 resizes for free for us too.

Also they are unusual in having their own workshop team - so in addition to what's on display you can have any design you like (which includes taking magazine cuttings of say a Tiffany ring for them to copy). Or you can just say 'oh I like art deco' and they'll sketch something right in front of you!

Do pop in and have a chat with them, if you want a really 'nice' and special jewel buying experience in HG.... Good luck with the proposal!

It's got a tacky shop sign, but my husband got mine from Dynasty on Hatton Gardens. It was a while back, but they resized for free (which was quite fiddly due to the setting) and have continued to give me valuations for insurance for free too. But looks like you have lots of recommendations already.

I saw this thread and was going to recommend Arlington & Co but see that angliobanana beat me to it! We bought my rings from there 10 years ago and thought they were brilliant. I also used to work near there so used to call in from time to time to have them cleaned and polished, which they always did for me happily and without charge. I would happily (and eagerly!) go back there if the need ever arose for more jewels!

I would definitely suggest Eric Ross, they were fantastic in helping us find the perfect engagement and wedding rings!
