January holiday in Mauritius

Postby BettyBoo » Thu Aug 14, 2014 7:45 am

We are thinking of a two week holiday in January with 3yr and 1yr old. Needs to have crèche/kids club and safe swimming beach. I love the thought of Mauritius but so much choice and massive price variances. So would welcome recommendations.

Not Hotel Paradise and Golf then. I think both of your children would be too young for their club. That leaves hiring a babysitter which is not particularily cheap. We got caught out by that but we were in a big enough group to partially share the load but it wasn't ideal. Shame as the actual Hotel was great in other criteria.

We are just back form our family holiday to the Paradis in Mauritius. I think it is fabulous and you can within the kids club have a private nanny at 7 Euros per hour for your little one. They will also keep an eye on your 3 year old too even though they can stay on their own at no extra cost. They had a ball pit, mini tarmac road area with ride on toys. I have written a report on my website about the Paradis today! My kids are now a bit older but still might be useful. http://www.familyholidayscompany.com/bl ... -mauritius
Also a blog on why I love Mauritius for a family holiday http://www.familyholidayscompany.com/bl ... y-holidays

If you would prefer a more home-from-home type environment then the Anahita (http://www.familyholidayscompany.com/an ... -mauritius) has a crèche from 8 months and kids club and you can have a villa type set up. Defo worth a look.

Happy to help if you want any more info on Mauritius, just email me on jo@quovadistravel.co.uk.

Good luck, Jo

Hi
I highly recommend Belle Mare Plage - been there twice. They have a kids club for 4 plus I think and it is only about £5 per hour if you want your little one looked after. There is a toddlers pool as well as 2 more pools, a great spa, great food and lovely beach with free glass bottom boat rides and free waterskiing/wakeboarding. Ask for a junior suite on the ground floor by the pool as it means that when your little one is sleeping you can still sit by the pool as so close - also means they can run around on the grass.
We went with a 3 year old (nearly 4) and a 1.5 year old and it was fantastic.

We went to Lux Belle Mare earlier this year with our 18 month old daughter following recommendations from friends and on here. Really enjoyed it - there were lots of under 5s and I can see why, the set up is great for little ones. Eg the pool is huge and gently shelving so they can paddle easily and safely, the beach is wide and gorgeous and the sea is calm, there is a popular kids club (age 3+ I think, or younger with a babysitter/you), there is a good choice of casual or smarter restaurants. There are lots of different activities going on (but still plenty of peaceful places) which kept things interesting and kept our daughter fascinated (she especially loved dancing to the aqua aerobics!). Staff were lovely. Oh and it's all been newly refurbed and is very stylish compared with many in the same price range.

I think the only kids club which would take your 1 year old without you hiring a separate babysitter is the Anahita (I think this is a scott dunn place?)

Dear all

Thank you so much for your tips and recommendations. We are still deciding but at least we are now short listing.

Turquoise Holidays on Northcote Road have been brilliant and actually have come up with the best deals so thought I should recommend them too.
