Holts in Hatton Garden are fantastic
They have ready made jewellery and also LOADS and LOADS of different stones - all shapes, sizes and colours so should suit any budget - which they will then make up for you. Apart from anything else, it is really interesting to see all the different precious and semi-precious stones and see what you can get for your money!

I recommend http://www.thediamondshop.co.uk where we chose loose stones for a custom made engagement ring and where you can make your own wedding rings when you're ready for that step!

In my opinion, an individual should choose a jeweler wisely. The jeweler should be able to understand your requirements. There should be wide variety of design available with him, so that customer can choose any one from them. See more here.

Thank you for all your replies, everyone has been so helpful. I passed all your suggestions on to my brother and he is currently deciding where to go. I'm hoping to get married soon so keeping all your suggestions to use myself!!

KRYSTALs in Hatton Garden - lovely family business.
Very helpful and knowledgeable.
They made a beautiful engagement ring for me custom made for a really good price. :D

Hi there, I run a service where I connect marriage proposers to a range of jewellers who are suitable for their budget and the style of ring they are looking for. It's completely free and I work with the proposer/couple to help them get the very best value for money when buying diamonds. Hatton Garden can be an intimidating place, and it's not necessarily the best place dependent on the style of ring you are looking for. Please ask him to email me on: rowena@askherfriends.com and i will connect him to the best people.

Best Wishes,
Rowena

I have to admit my husband proposed without a ring and I've never had more fun than both of us shopping together to find something perfect. Don't dismiss checking out auction houses as they often have beautiful, classic stones and designs for good prices. My husband visited almost every store he could in Halton gardens although found it overpriced (for diamonds)... Although our beautiful wedding rings were made there.

Another vote for Berganza. I really wanted something vintage and they have a great selection. Good after sales service too.
