Legoland - are QBots worth it?

Postby 2009Kat » Mon Sep 08, 2014 8:27 pm

Am thinking of taking my small boys to Legoland for one of their birthdays. Birthday boy will be 3 and loves rides but hates queuing. Am thinking of ordering some of the qbot queue jumper things but they add significant cost to an already costly outing. Just wondered if anyone had been recently and could give a view as to whether worth the money?
Thanks v much for any thoughts.

If you go at the weekend or in school holidays and the weather is decent then YES but if going midweek then see how busy it is before going for it. We were there a few months ago and took the mid price option were you book a slot for half of the current queue time so you just rock up at your allocated time. Saved kids tantruming in very long queues! Legoland is great! Hope you have a fab time!

We have been twice in the last couple of years - the first time in the school holidays (QBot) and the second time just before (no QBot). I would say if you're not going during the holidays - and with pre-schoolers you might even be able to find a midweek day to go - then it's definitely not worth the cost. But if you're tied to a really busy time, then it's well worth it.

That said though, with a 3 year old, you won't necessarily be rushing towards some of the more adventurous (and therefore popular) rides, so even if you were to go at a busy time of the year or week, you might well be able to avoid buying one. They are really expensive, especially after you've got in at the gate using as many cereal vouchers as possible!

Last time we went (when we didn't buy one) we got there as it opened and I went to ask the guy at the QBot desk whether he really thought it was worth it on that particular day. He and a couple of colleagues consulted with each other, looked somehow like they'd been rumbled and then said no, probably not! If you don't get one, make a bee-line first thing for what your boys really want to go on. Queues obviously get longer as the morning presses on..

Have fun! I do think it's brilliant there. Your boys will love it (and you too, hopefully!) ;)

Hi 2009Kat,
Depends on when are you going. We went in half term once, regardless the rainy cold weather, we were so shocked by how many people were there. The queue for popular rides were an hour and half each. Then we went once before the state schools breaking up, it was brilliant! Everything was like ten to twenty minutes queue. Also if you get there as early as possible, walk straight to the Atlantis at the back of the park, is less busier at the back. There are so many fun things to do there. The mini land and duplo land will keep your boys happy for hours. Pirate show is on every hour outdoor. Fantastic. I suggest you bring packed lunch. Sit down there enjoy the pirate show while having your lunch to save time and rest your legs. Also they do lovely puppet shows in the duplo land don't need to queue up. I think it is not nessaseryly to get the QBot unless you and hubby can only take the boys there in school holidays and weekends. We bought Merlin passes through Tesco club card reward. Super saving!!! Have a great day!

Would say definitely yes if going at a busy time. We also went for mid range ones. If you get the vouchers for a free adult from Kelloggs packets then you can offset some of the extra cost. Enjoy! Our little boy loved it.
