Have you tried the Good Earth? Quite expensive but I guess you will be saving petrol money on the drive

A friend of mine lives in Blackheath and travels to Harrow for her veggie Chinese fix to the Veggie Inn.

We live close to Hoover and MayFlower at Clapham South, but neither of them are especially good.

The children really wanted a chinese last night so I took NVN's advice and went for the Good Earth in St Johns Hill

Absolutely fab!

Not cheap but we picked it up which knocked a few pounds off the bill.

I would definitely recommend it!

There is an even closer chinese supermarket in Mitcham called Hoo Hing. It's not as big as Wing Yip but handy if you can't be bothered driving to Croydon. Hoo Hing is right next door to Smyths toy store (handy!) so if you need directions take a look at the Smyths store locator website.

There's a great restaurant/take away on Bedford Hill across from the Sainsbury's carpark - Bento. They do Chinese as well as some Japanese. Huge selection of food including dimsum and big soups which you wouldn't normally get at a takeaway. Staff are really friendly girls as well.

Does Bento do crispy aromatic duck?

My nine year old could eat a whole flock of those and if it has that on the menu it could be a clincher!

They most certainly do - quarter and half portions! Also, the Bento boxes are fab. So much food, I can never get through an entire box.
