How about a sleepover at home for a choice few best friends? DVD, pizza and popcorn. Would avoid the rampaging masses taking over your house (just a rampaging few instead!).

Other good ones my son has been to are go-karting at the Latchmere, archery at the Aspire Centre on Merton Road, Laser-tag at Eddie Catz in Wimbledon, crazy golf in Wandsworth Park...You get the drift. Parties they rave about tend to involve sport and/or movies - boys' paradise, clearly! ;)

We have just held a Nerf Gun party for our 9 year old which he and his friends claimed was the best party ever! It was very easy too. I used a company, recommended by a friend, called Nerf Gun Parties (0208 460 8853) and booked a church hall. They arrived with a van full of different Nerf guns and buckets of foam bullets as well as camouflage tents, tunnels, targets. They set up, organised the boys and girls into 2 teams and played games such as capture the flag for about 1 and 3/4 hours, took a team photo and awarded certificates.

All I had to do was sort out the food to feed the hungry 9 year old combatants! Easy Peasy and worth every penny.

Is he in to cars/ karting? There are go carts in Vauxhall at Oasis Play that do 2 hour parties. http://oasisplay.org.uk/come-and-play/karting-track/

Otherwise, Exhibit hire out their cinema for movie parties.

How about Stock car racing at wimbledon dog track, I think the season starts soon. Only problem with that is that it is sunday evenings only and so maybe not suitable for 9 yr olds because of school. Great for older kids though. Brian Sewell (art critic) confessed it was his guilty pleasure , and having been I can see why! Great fun for all.

Streatham go karting is brill as well, but pricey if there are a lot of them.

Hi mungomuffit!

I am Maria the owner of Eddie Catz (and mother of a 13 year old boy myself). What about a Lasertag party? We run them out our South Wimbledon venue every evening and you get the whole venue to yourself. The package includes laser games, food and party bags and parents can even have a go at the end. See http://www.eddiecatz.com/wimbledon-parties/laser-party/

If this is beyond your budget we also do an "Express" version without the food - see http://www.eddiecatz.com/offer-print.php?offer_id=58

Do send me back an message if you want to speak to someone at Eddie Catz!
Thanks
Maria

My ten year old's birthday is coming up and all of his friends have had sleepovers and it seems as if that is all he wants to do.

I think it's just to stay up all night and muck about a little!

What about a sleepover at one of the museums? It looks so cool and really quite affordable! We're looking forward to when our kids are old enough to do it!

Have you been at Clip and Climb in Chelsea (near the gasworks / lots road)? My kids love it and have both asked to have their party there (one is 9). The only problem is that I think its quite pricey... so I am already asking some of their friends mums if anyone wants to share with us !

Have a look - I think a 9 year old boy would love it !

Hi I run The Biscuit Tree & we specialise in tying in with themes so once you have decided what you are doing then we could provide party favours - iced biscuits - that tie in as I am pretty sure a 9 year old boy doesn't want a party bag?!?!?! OR they are fun to have on the table for the food too.
We have done some brilliant ones & they have proved to be a big hit.... we are about to do some Ninjago ones this week & no 'theme is too challenging!
Here si a link to the facebook Gallery: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 358&type=3
DO check us out on Facebook - we have an offer for 10% off first orders (T&C Apply) for new page likes . LInks below - have put some photos too.
Best wishes,
Rhiannon

My son had a rib ride for his 9th birthday - London Rib Riders is the company I think we booked with from memory. You hurtle along the Thames at speeds of up to 40 knots - v cool! You access the boat from near the London Eye, so you need to get to Waterloo or Westminster tube. The boat can take 12 but I think you need a couple of adults. We went for ribs at Bodeans after - we called it a Rib & Ribs Party!

Hi, We went to a climb party here http://www.suttonlifecentre.org/climbing-wall/
along the A217.
there is free parking and you can hire a room in the library for the eatling part of the party or there's a Harvester.... over the road.

Swim parties at Virgin fitness centres always go down well..

Hi

I recently had a swimming pool party for my 8 y/o at balham leisure centre with a giant inflatable assault course. She and her friends absolutely loved it!
