Ski Famille or Family Ski?

Postby Riverside » Thu Jul 10, 2014 8:17 pm

Has anyone skied with either of these companies or both and if so would you recommend them? We are looking to go skiing next spring taking our two daughters with us who will be very almost 4 and 18 months. Both companies seem to be very similarly priced and offer the same type of package and childcare so it would be great to have feedback from anyone who has been with them.
Thanks

Hello there,

Both companies are independently run and have excellent reputations as tour operators providing childcare services. The advantage of going with an independently run tour operator vs a large mass market tour operator is the level of catered chalet food and the customer service. Since many of the large tour operators are employing in excess of 800 casual resort staff every season, they unfortunately can’t be as selective as smaller companies, due to the sheer volume of staff they need to recruit. Smaller companies (like Ski Familie and Ski Family) can be more careful about which staff they employ and in most cases have a more intensive pre season training programme. As a specialist ski travel agency we work with over 100 different tour companies and offer you exactly the same price as going direct. Should you be interested in discussing your holiday requirements in greater detail, please feel free to contact me on 020 7801 1080 or via email at Sophia@alpineanswers.co.uk

We skied with Family Ski this year, please PM me if you have specific questions - we went to Ardent. We had a lovely holiday and the children were well looked after.

Hi there,

I've heard good things about both those companies but I'd also recommend Esprit Ski as a lower budget option. Our 8 month old son had never been left in childcare before when we went and he was happy as larry all week. We had a fantastic week skiing 9-4pm, then picking him up for apres ski drinks in the bar by the slopes (he loved watching everyone come in / the lifts). In the evening childcare was provided in the chalet (each room monitored by the nannies) so we could enjoy dinner downstairs without any worries. All in all, great holiday and Iwould highly recommend it (plus it doesn't break the bank).

Mark Warner skiing also meant to be good, we've just done a summer holiday with them which was fantastic.

Happy skiing!

Thanks everyone for your feedback, that's really helpful.
We've taken the plunge and booked with Family Ski today and are really looking forward to it :) . Although both companies look very similar, Family Ski seemed better suited to cater for what will then be our almost 4 year old daughter in terms of skiing and we preferred the flexibility in being able to book our own flights but having the transfer included.
We also loved the idea that they have a ski school helper who stays with the youngest ones/beginners while they are at ESF ski school so at least they are with someone familiar who can help when we're not there.
