Marmalade Bear or 3,4,5 nursery?

Postby Editrix » Fri Sep 19, 2014 9:59 pm

I have my toddler registered at both Marmalade bear and 3,4, 5 nursery and I'm not sure which to go to. Has anyone direct experience of either? I'm hoping to go to Thomas's Clapham afterwards. I'd heard Marmalade Bear doesn't quite have the same great standards as the other two nurseries but understand the lovely head, Rozzy , has been trying to address. Does anyone have children in either please? thank you :)

Hi, both my children went to 345 and I, and they, LOVED it - the teachers are motivated and caring and get to know the children so well, with excellent preparation for all aspects of school. I would highly recommend it.

My little one is has just finished at Marmalade Bear and gone onto Finton. Not only did I find the majority of the staff lovely, but the objectives of the nursery were brilliant. My little girl started to read just before she finished nursery and was so proud of herself, but I don't think she was pushed-just encouraged.

I don't have personal experience of either of these nurseries but have heard very good things about 345. Both my boys went to the Wainwright Montessori nursery on Chestnut Grove. My elder son is however at Thomas's Clapham so i have experience of the Thomas's entry process (he did the assessment in 2011 an joined the school in September 2012). It is my understanding that Thomas's approach is very much based on assessing the individual child rather than having preferred "feeder" nurseries so in that respect i don't think you should worry which one you end up going with.
Good luck making a decision!

Hello Editix,

I'd love to know what you decided because I'm facing the same decision and split. Thanks!

My daughter was at Marmalade Bear and it was fantastic. Really lovely environment, very nurturing, but also high standards. I think it was actually Miss Rozzy coming in (2+ years ago?) which has had a v positive impact. My only criticism is that it has no outside space.
