Morning nursery for 2 year old near Upper Tooting SW17?

Postby putneystahm » Tue Sep 23, 2014 1:19 pm

Hello,

Im fairly new to this area and don't know where to start looking for a lovely stimulating nursery for my son when he turns 2 next year. I don't need full day care and want him to do 2-3 mornings a week. I'm drawn to Montessori education, rather than a pre - prep and I hope to send him to our local state school Fircroft where my daughter has started and is absolutely delighted.

If anyone has any ideas about this I would love to hear your recommendations.

Many thanks

Hi Putneystahm,
we send our son (who just turned two this month) to Beechcoft Day Nursery on Beechcroft road and he is very happy there. They offer half day sessions as well (8-1 or 1-6). There is an open day this Saturday (10am-2pm) if you wanted to check it out: http://beechcroftdaynursery.co.uk/

There is morning care available at Derington Family Centre and Rookstone Road Playgroup in Tooting. My son did Rookstone Road - I think each is £15 for a morning session, 9-12 and 9:30-12:30 respectively.

Thank you. :) I will check them all out. If there are any others, please post them.
I think a good garden is really important for us and somewhere stimulating and open during term time. I loved the Beehive in Putney where my daughter attended and hoping for something similar.

Crescent I & II Kindergarten located on Trinity Rd and Trinity Crescent.

Both my sons went there and I can't recommend highly enough. PM me if you would like! They do morning sessions from 9-12.15pm which has worked brilliantly for me. You can add extra afternoon hours if you wish.

Thanks for that ☺
If you don't mind I will message you about the nursery after getting some info from them. Will check their rates and likelihood of getting a space. I like that they are very close to us and my older child's school.

You may have already viewed and picked by now as I am a little late however, Cranbrook Nursery on fulham palace road is absolutely fantastic. Efficient and flexible with amazing staff. Both me and a couple of mums at the local gym have had our little ones go from birth and they're very happy. Plus bishops park is close by and they are very sociable with picnics in fulham palace.
All the best with your search!

Can completely recommend Noah's Ark - part of the Dolphin School group just off Bolingbroke Grove, my youngest was very happy there...

Forgot to say thanks to everyone else for the useful suggestions and I hope others find this helpful too. I am deciding between the nearest ones to us (logistics). Currently Marmalade Catterpillar/ Bear only have afternoon spaces available for next year which isn't ideal for a 2 year old who naps after lunch, and the Crescent has higher fees than I would like but it looks perfect and is so close so haven't ruled them out. I will contact Gateway as well. My son is 19 months and I can already feel the pressure of having started my search late!

Have you looked at Bertrum House School on Rowfant Road. The fees are (slightly!) lower than Crescent and whilst they don't have a garden they do have a lovely outside space. My daughter loves it! It's well worth a visit!
