A property we rent out had black mould growing in the bathroom, after repainting with anti fungal paint and treating the tiles with bleach we thought we had fixed the issue. However our tenants have just been in contact and one has been to the drs who thinks she is suffering from a mould allergy due to the flat. It is really distressing to find the building is making her sick and I'm very worried, can anyone recommend a company who professionally treat mould?

Hi,
it sounds like you might have ventilation issues or some water related problem etc. leak under the bath or shower, roof etc.
so before you call mould specialist ( which could be expensive) see under the bath , upstairs or next door...

Hi, condensation is tricky in flats.
Ask the tenants to wash the mould with an anti mould cleaner.

With regards to the bathroom - make sure a good extractor fan in place and make sure door is shut to do the job. (This should he first point of call)

Shampoo bottles/ shower gels left on the bath side all add to the problem.

Ventilation is key- heating kept constant rather the high all the time.

Dehumidifiers are also helpful.

I had exactly the same issue with tenants! They failed to put the extractor fan on, resulting in a mould infestation with a nightmare of consequences! I held them completely liable due to their negligence. This can be really expensive as I was desperate to get the professionals in. Anything you buy off the shelf will not resolve the issue. This needs to be removed by a mould specialist with Industrial chemicals. I was lucky enough to find someone who gave me the source of where to buy the products, and I used a painter who has tackled this issue for the company I found. If you need further details message me. The chemicals are £80 but well worth it, then labour.
