Red train park closed?

Postby Girliemum » Thu Nov 13, 2014 10:50 pm

Does anyone know why the 'red train' park at the bottom of Grandison Road is closed, or indeed when it might reopen? We miss it.

I have written an email to the council to ask this question. It has been closed for quite a while now and I haven't seen anybody doing any maintenance work there when I have walked past. There isn't anywhere else close by so it seems unfair that it has now been closed for weeks rather than days.
Perhaps worth you writing an email as well to speed things up.

Done! Sent an enquiry to Lambeth. I remember when the little red car was broken it took ages to get fixed. Hopefully it will reopen soon.

Here is the message I received from the Clapham Common Manager:

This playground has been closed until I can carry out repairs to this playground, following complaints where children have fallen due to a number of trip hazards within this play area.

I met with contractors on Friday 31st October 2014 so that they could provide me with quotations to carry out the necessary works. I am expecting to have these quotes late next week and will be able to authorise works to rectify the trip hazards.

Once these works have been completed I will reopen the play area.

There is a another playground area nearby the Bandstand which is nearby La Baita Café, another informal play area by the Bowling Café near to the Tennis Courts and also a mother and toddler area next to Mount Pond which is near to Tom's burger Bar on Windmill Drive.

I am aware that this does not resolve your immediate issue with the closure of this playground but hope that you will understand that from a management point of view the health and safety of the General public who use the common is my prime concern.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards

Joyce Guiste
Clapham Common Manager
