Hello!

Can anyone suggest a local place for Afternoon tea?
I'm looking to arrange a girly afternoon with my two sister in laws - one of which is new to the family and the other a new mum .

have tried to Google but am lost!

Whereabouts are you?

Cake Boy by the river in Battersea is worth a visit, but not the trad hotel-style afternoon tea. For that somewhere like The Bingham in Richmond is good. Great views down to the river. Have heard others recommend Cannizaro House, Petersham Nurseries... In central London a friend reviewed all of them and recommended The Four Seasons (which is great), and The Dorchester. Fortnum & Mason is also very good. For something a bit more informal I love the teapod cafes in SE1; and I've also arranged an afternoon tea for a hen do at one of the Tea Palace places, which was good.

I really didn't like the chocoholic tea at The Hilton, which I was subjected to on another hen do

I just had a high tea baby shower at The Sanderson. It's excellent value for money for central London and it''s themed around 'Mad Hatter'. A little less informal then your usual 5* hotel. The Langham is also fantastic and has been awarded London's Best High Tea a few times.

Four o nine by clapham North does afternoon tea.

if you will go central, I second the Dorchester.

Canizaro House on Wimbledon Common does a nice afternoon tea. Another nice place to go is The National Portrait Gallery restaurant by Trafalgar Square. It's on the top floor and the views across London are amazing.

Try Orange Pekoe in barnes, it's lovely.

I highly recommend Afternoon Tea at The Corinthia (modern, glamourous) or Browns (old-school, traditional) - both top-notch.
I had the Christmas Afternoon Tea at Browns - very festive and lovely.
