Match up Mums is a fabulous business and they work hard to link you up with other similar mums with babies due around the same time. We run the First Aid courses for all the local branches of the NCT, they book up fast and are another option to learn an invaluable skill and meet more parents at similar stages as well.

We also run First Aid courses with Match up Mums and The Babycare Company as well as our own scheduled courses.

Good luck with everything. Nappy Valley is the very best place to bring up little ones, there is so much going on and a huge number of different clubs and meet ups to get to know other like-minded parents. You will be spoilt for choice.

Not sure where you live but if you join the tootingbaby Facebook group you can post a message with your due date to get in contact with other mums due around the same time. I'm sure the group was originally set up to help mums meet up x

Apologies for the delay but i wanted to thank everyone for their feedback and advice. I've signed up to both Match Up Mums and Lulubaby and feeling much happier!

Hi ladies

I am running Hypnobirthing classes from my home - it is in Hackney but I do provide parking permits. I have two spaces for December left. I also run the Hackney NCT homebirth group which is great for making friends. I believe the NCT also run bump and baby groups where you can make friends. Making friends is a great thing to do but you must also focus more I think, on the birth that you want to achieve. I have two daughters, my first was a medicalised birth, and the second born in March was a magical gentle natural birth at home in the pool using the hypnosis techniques. It did hurt having contractions but I wasn't afraid at any point and I coped very well. The actual birth bit was intense but I didn't feel pain, it was good to work with the pain and pushing made the pain go away. Lily was 9lbs 5oz and I didn't even know she had been born! I would be delighted to offer a place in my home. I teach The Wise Hippo method, but alongside their materials, I give my own materials that I have written based on my own experiences of birth. I also have an extesive book library & other various bits and bobs that my clients find helpful. Please do get in touch if you're interested. My courses are ususally £400 for private, but I am doing an offer of £300 ( £249 for groups) for Xmas bookings. Lottie x

Have a look at LuluBaby http://www.lulubaby.co.uk it's much more comprehensive than NCT, they cover topics in better detail and overall the feedback is excellent.

Further more the course are taught by qualified professionals.

I'm a member of Match up Mums and some of our group have done both NCT and Lulubaby. Lulubaby came top on all accounts, there is no need to do both courses.

I think my post was deleted but I'm not sure why? I had a first experience with The Baby Care Company and Match Up Mums and they are both fabulous places for meeting new friends and learning how to care for a newborn baby. x

The midwife teams at St George's run free antenatal classes. I did that and met a load of lovely people. Also, it prepares you specifically for that hospital. Really recommend it.

Hi
I just wanted to reiterate that NCT is not the only choice for antenatal classes.

There are plenty of free classes at your local hospital run by the NHS, and there are also many private classes springing up in response to the fact that the NCT often seem to be over subscribed and many women are coming away a little dissatisfied with what or how they have been taught.

If you google antenatal classes in your area you should be able to find all your local options!

Don't despair - there may only be three couples signed up now to your NCT class but that can all change as the time of the course approaches. Our course only had four couples with four days to go, but two more signed up the day before it started. And six was a really nice number.
