Driving lessons in own car Post Reply

Can anyone recommend a driving instructor who will do lessons in our (automatic) car?

I have passed my test so these would be refresher lessons - although have barely driven since passing 18ish years ago, so happy to do a couple "warm up" lessons in instructors car first.

Hi sarah.bee, it's funny you should ask this, as I've just been given some refresher lessons for my birthday! Like you I haven't really driven for over 10 years... My husband (who is obviously better trained than I'd given him credit for!) found Wimbledon Driving School via recommendation on nappyvalleynet and booked some lessons. They said they would do lessons in our car if we have the correct insurance (I think you need to 'phone your insurer to check you would be insured if driving under instruction - this apparently wasn't a problem with our policy). Hope that helps!

Thanks Lemonzest - actually I did a few refresher lessons with them about 3 years ago and the instructor was brilliant - but unfortunately I have since lost her name and number. I have realised my problem is that I love driving in the safety of a dual control car but am a petrified wreck in any other car! So great to know that they may be able to take me out in our car.

Hey… I want to be a truck driver but do not have a truck license. I stay in Macquarie area and planning to join a local Port Macquarie Driving School so I get necessary training and expertise. Is it a good idea?
