My Teaching English as a second language experience -
As an experienced British nanny, I have worked with families from many different backgrounds and of various nationalities including – German, Russian, Italian, French and Arab.
I studied French at school and gained an A grade in my speaking assignment, and have a good understanding of German. I have also had some exposure to the Italian and Russian languages.
I have taught English to children of all ages, in many different settings – in their home, in schools and Kindergarden’s overseas (Switzerland, Germany and Austria) and also at summer camps overseas – again, working with all ages and abilities.
My experience has taught me that children learn English very quickly when they are relaxed and at ease, and having ‘fun’ – in every day scenario’s – going on a ‘Bear hunt’ through the country side like the British book, singing songs, doing creative/art activities, swimming, playing ‘paint monster’ – chasing each other with different coloured paint and sponges in this fun game in the summer months… ‘Everything and anything’ can be made into a fun educational activity if done in an age and developmental level appropriate way.

I have introduced the English language to children who have had no previous knowledge or exposure to the language before.
Children find me very warm and my ‘natural rapport’ with children comes across very quickly to parents and children alike.

As an experienced British nanny, I am now looking for a long-term overseas role, with a focus on encouraging the use of the English language and enjoying seeing the children’s English progress and develop.
