You obviously know much more about this than we do.actuallyadad wrote:@ rugby - ideally nowhere would be disrupted by works. But if somewhere has to be a, a small corner of the common just isn't that bad. Sure you'd have to re-locate some kids' sports matches about...maybe across the common...or to Clapham Common...or Tooting Common...or Battersea Park....not ideal of course, but not the end of the world.
VYMummy sounds awfully like Actuallyadad. Guess what she joined and posted twice in 15 minutes and never returned - poor effort actuallyadad aka VYMummy - try harder next time!VYMummy wrote:the height of nimbyism here and it's ridiculous when an alternative is not suggested. No one wants large building projects in their area and the construction traffic that comes with it but what can we do! London is a growing city and we have to accept that! Make proposals to how it can be better done not just say don't do it
No offence taken from you - getting quite hacked off with actuallyadad also known as VYMummy - yawn - the knee jerkmungomuffit wrote:Come on actuallyadad, you are being very unreasonable. It is not rugby's job and nor in his ability (no offence rugby ) or any other individual or local group to deliver a new Crossrail proposal. That is TFL's job.
No one is denying that it won't be a great asset for our part of SW London.
What TFL need to do is undertake a survey of all alternate places for the shafts on brown field or other sites, like perhaps they could purchase some property in private ownership... I don't know as I don't have that level of information at my disposal unfortunately. TFL does, so let's hope they get on with the job as there must be an alternative to their first suggestion of putting them on the Common and Trinity Fields.
If anyone has a knee-jerk reaction then it is you actuallyadad, having apparently already decided that the Common and Trinity Fields are the perfect sites for the shafts and there are no alternatives. Even TFL hasn't decided that yet, so I don't know how you can be so sure.
rugby: I've read the letter from Boris Johnson that you posted a link to. It says no more than the blindingly obvious (at least to most of us) and says nothing whatsoever about Trinity Fields or Wandsworth Common or any of the specifics of your objections. Can you at least be honest in what you say on this thread?Excellent letter from BJ today - very supportive - will put it online and provide a link if I am allowed
