Painless bikini wax?

Postby JulieA » Mon Jan 26, 2015 9:54 am

Hi,
Could anyone recommend a beauty salon /beautician to get a painless bikini wax? I am ashamed to admit I haven't had one for almost 10 months :o , as I had twin babies with a C section so thought I would wait until I was all healed at first and then kept pushing it back... I am now scared it is going to hurt so bad after all this time so would really like to find someone gentle!!
Thanks!

I go to the Waxing Specialist. I am 35 weeks pregnant now and just had a very painless Brazilian. I've been waxing for years and have to say I had my first experience with Lycon (wax type) and it was fabulously painless!!
I would highly recommend Marta (the owner)! She was efficient, knowledgeable and very professional.

You book your appointment online, which I found very easy and efficient without having to deal with a receptionist.

Hope this helps. :)

JulieA,

A good wax salon will trim you if you need it before they wax you. I'd speak with wherever you decide to go with first before using creams or trimming yourself because it may irritate the skin or be unnecessary.

Agree with Petal that Lycon wax is better than the old school glue. Remember each persons pain threshold is different too.

Not local but I go to Otylia Roberts waxing. Www.otyliaroberts.co.uk
She specialises in hot wax and I used her post babies after extensive period and was fine. Just explain your situation. You can even bring your bub with you!

Thank you all! I might give all the places a try :)
Would you recommend someone specific at All about the Girl?

I haven't heard of Lycon before, I used to have hot wax done at Ministry of Waxing (but not going anymore as too far away now that I have limited time due to babies...). I will give it a go!
And you are right Petal, I know it won't be litterally pain free, but I meant not too painfull considering it has been a while. I used to do it every month and it felt ok. And yes I was expecting the beautician to do a trim first.

Thanks again!

Thank you for the recommendation.

Pregnancy is one of the most exciting miracles in life. During that time you don’t have to give up on your waxing routines. Do something for yourself you deserve some “ ME TIME “.

There is no evidence that waxing is unsafe during pregnancy. Hair growth during pregnancy does tend to increase, especially in areas such as your tummy and face, as well as your arms, legs and pubic area. The body has a large supply of hormones causing increased hair growth. The hair not only grows quick, but can also become thicker and darker. Hair removal creams contain lots of chemicals that could potentially interfere with pregnancy.

As your belly begins to grow, you might find it difficult to shave unreachable areas. This could be a potential hazard especially when using a sharp razor.

Waxing is perfectly safe.

Some women feel that waxing is little more painful during the pregnancy due to the increased skin sensitivity and blood flow. However, others say that they experienced no change when waxing during pregnancy.

Let a professional deal with this while you lay back and enjoy pampering.

Waxing Specialist only recommends Lycon Hot Wax for your waxing during pregnancy.

Hope that helps x

Marta

I highly recommend Marta at The Waxing Specialist where I visited for the first time today.

Waxing has never been so easy and pain free. The Lycon wax is amazing I will never go back to other types.
I had my eye brows threaded too which was fantastic.

Booking was done online and all very simple and not expensive.

I also received 10% off as a new customer.

You need to go and see a lady called Coco in Fulham (off the Munster road)
She's amazing - uses a special kind of hot wax which is quite rubbery so no ripping off, and an oil first which makes sure its only the hair she takes out and reduces the soreness significantly!
I found a Brazilian so painless I now get her to do my underarms too ... And my pain threshold is LOW (epidural at 2cm!)
Her number is 07703 696378

Strip on Fulham Road are brilliant - they sell a cream too that you apply 30 mins or so before that helps to numb you.

It is a sad state of affairs when getting a bikini wax while pregnant is classified as 'me time'.

I went to see Marta off the back of this thread and she did a great job. (I had a baby 12 weeks ago so needed the thatching dealt with). Not as far to travel as Otylia's and the Lycon wax gives really good results, whilst being as "pain-free" as you can probably get. She's no nonsense and professional. I'm a big fan.

I finally went to the Waxing Specialist (I know, I am not the fastest one...). I had a great experience, as painless as waxing can be ;), all while supporting a local independant business. Thank you so much for the recommendation :)

I also went to the waxing specialist on the back of this thread and Marta was amazing. I've been having waxing for years and this was the most professional by far. The lycon wax really does make a difference. I thought I had to just out up with excruciating waxing but not anymore!
