Can anyone help regarding Breast feeding problems? If the baby needs to nurse sometimes every two hours even though he doubled his weight by 8 weeks? How much is a breast feeding expert and can anyone recommend one? What is best for a couple of exhausted parents & their beautiful baby boy? Help please!

My baby is 10 months now. He almost doubled his weight in 2 months also.
I fed on demand and this was every 1h30 for the firsy 3 months at least. It was exhausting but I just thought it was normal as the rest of my ncr group did the same or every 2h30 max. Hold in there, first few months are tough. My little one had feeds every 3 hours until he was 6months when we introduced solids. Hope you get some good advice too.

Don't worry at all it seems all normal to me. I fed my now 1 year old every 2 hours for the first 3 months. It's true that the dummy helps. It's exhausting, emotionally and physically but it's the most rewarding thing ever.

Depending on where you live, you are very likely to have access to some of the breastfeeding cafes organised by the hospital - St Thomas' has a very efficient network and I am sure the other SW hospitals do. Breastfeeding didn't work out with me in the end, but when I was still trying the lovely midwife who ran the Clapham Manor BF cafe even came to our home the following day and spent two hours with us as she felt she hadn't had enough time during the session.
I also found our health visitors helpful, pragmatic and non-judgmental.

I had help from Sharon George with both of my children. Sharon ran the breastfeeding part of the NCT course I went on. Following awful problems feeding my daughter I saw her privately and she was brilliant. It was the best baby related money I have spent as her help enabled me to keep breastfeeding when I was on the point of abandoning it. Her details are in the link elenimum posted. A 90 min session costs £135 (follow up sessions of you need them are a bit less).

Alternatively, the NCT runs a drop in clinic at Harrison's in Balham. Think it is held on Monday mornings but Google it to be sure. Sharon helps out there sometimes if private help is not the way you want to go.

The Clapham NCT run Balham Breastfeeding Cafe dropin takes places this morning Monday 10am-12noon in the private dining room at Harrison's restaurant (15-18 Bedford Hill, Balham). 2 qualified NCT breastfeeding counsellors available for one to one consultation. It is free to come along and speak with our breastfeeding counsellors, although donations to our running costs are always gratefully received.

I also highly recommend Geraldine Miskin (recommended above) - she gave excellent advice on all aspects of feeding, winding etc, and correctly diagnosed a tongue tie that others (nhs) had missed or told me did not exist!
