Raw Bottom

Postby jemima123 » Thu Apr 09, 2015 2:55 pm

My 4 1/2 little girl has a sick bug with a totally raw bottom. She is in total agony as I have to keep changing nappy's as she isn't holding anything. She doesn't want milk but taking a bit of water - Please any suggestions most welcome... Help!

Your poor daughter and poor you. Have you been to the doctor?

For the sick bug, I would recommend a probiotic such as optibac for children which comes in a powder format and can be mixed with water or milk. Its available from the chemist. Depending on how bad the bug is it can take between 12-48 hours to take affect but is very good.

Try using matainium cream on her bottom it's from the chemist in a yellow box it's brilliant the cream itself is thick yellow but works.

Bepanthen is also very effective.

Metanium definitely- it's magic. Do see a doc if she's not keeping anything in. Dioralyte is good for rehydration but she might be too young for it. There's a horrid bug going round at the mo blood luck with it and I hope she gets better soon. X

I would advise never to use baby wipes, however sensitive it says they are. I discovered they were brilliant at wiping down oil based ink on a printing table, so can't imagine what they do to tender skin. Never used them with our son as a result, always used water and cotton wool.

Metanium and pawpaw cream as a barrier.
Then proboiotics for the poorly tum. :( Poor thing! We have this problem relatively often, it's so sad.

Put down some old towels in a big space and give her some nappy-free time. I second, third, fourth the recommendations for Yellow Metanium but absolutely nothing beats air.

Thank you all so very much for your suggestions. I have done a lot of nappy off time and got the yellow Metanium cream which is simply incredible.

Now we have a happier little lady thanks to you.

Have a good week!
