Postby sja38 » Tue Jul 28, 2009 11:39 am

My daughter is regisrtered for primary school to start at 4 years old. Does she need to go to nursery beforehand and if so from when and where?

Hi

I would always look at sending your little one to a good nursery at some point. Sending a child to school when they have had 4-5 years of just being with mum/childminders would be a terrible shock!

I had to go to work when my son was 18months so I started him at a brilliant nursery just for mornings and he loved it so much that he went to full time when he was three. It teaches them to socialise with other children and how to follow a routine outside the home which is so important for when they go to school. I would always say to look at as many nurseries in your area as you can until you find the right one. My son went to Blundells day nursery in Battersea and I new immediately when I went in that it was the right place for him. Any good nursery will discuss all your worries with you.
Good luck!
