Can anyone recommend a velux window repair man/company??

Postby french-tutor-clapham » Sun Feb 13, 2011 2:38 pm

After submitting a request a few weeks ago for a tumble dryer repairman, and receiving from another member the contact details of a fabulous workman who sorted everything out, I am once again asking for help!

I have a velux window that is stubbornly refusing to shut properly. Admittedly, it is approaching 30 years of age and so it is to be expected I suppose. That said, in windy, rainy weather a non-closing velux is quite a serious matter.

Would anyone happen to know of anyone, or any companies out there, who would be able to either repair the closing mechanism on the window, or reliably recommend replacing it and carry out any work necessary themselves?

Any suggestions are very gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Sarah.

hi
I am not sure it is worth repairing, although it may be possible to replace just the bit that opens, they do come apart quite easily and It may be possible to get a new opener from Velux if it is still the same model and system. I think the best thing to do is call Velux and see what the say, I have changed just the inner section before, but it wasn't quite as old as yours. Of course this will only work if there is nothing wrong with the frame.
I do think that 30 years is quite good for a roof window though, so maybe it's time just to get a new one.
hope this helps

Hi
I can definitely come and see what can be done, discuss possibilities with you and also give my advice if you need one.And that visit will not cost you a penny :)

I used Skylight Services, who specialise in Velux windows. They did a great job at servicing, repairing and fitting new blinds on my Velux windows.

Thanks Wandsworth Resident for your recommendation for Matt at Skylight Services. Based on your recommendation, I had him come out yesterday to service and replace our velux blinds.
