Converting Ground Floor 1 bed flat to 3 bed 2 bath in SW11

Postby ginandtonics » Tue Feb 17, 2015 4:44 pm

Hi there,

We're over in SW11 and are considering converting our ground floor 1 bed flat to a 3 bed 2 bath flat through a basement conversion and side return. It would be an entire footprint basement, and our current kitchen/bathroom would need to be ripped out.

It's a big job and to be honest we're finding it all a little daunting!!

We just wondered if anyone has done this kind of conversion before (from 1 bed to 3 bed, or an entire footprint basement on a ground floor flat) and if so, how it went for them, who they used, and if they're happy with the result?!!

One option we're looking at is to do a small basement instead (just moving the bathroom and utility down there) and then shifting the living space around on the ground floor with a side return to make it 2 bed. This feels like a more manageable job but wouldn't quite give us the space we're after.

I've looked at a lot of the basement threads on here already and they've been immensely helpful - thank you all!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts / comments - there isn't a day that goes by that I don't notice another basement being dug in the streets of SW11...

hi ginandtonics,

We have just seen your post; Is this a project you are still looking to undertake? Have you made progress with it?

It does sound like a project we may be able to help you with.

To convert a 1 bed to a 3 bed can be difficult but it all depends on the space you have, especially once you have extended out to the side.

We would be more than happy to discuss this with you; please feel free to get in contact via the details below.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards
Jamie
