Funfair Injury

Postby Samalawl » Wed Jul 01, 2015 12:11 pm

Hi guys!
My son went to the FormulaE event in battersea park on Sunday with his dad. They went to the funfair and both went on the big inflatable slide, sons dad text and said my little boy had got hurt on it so I rushed round to get him. He had massive friction burns on both his legs. I had to take him to A+E where they dressed him and slowly the burns are healing however I am really unhappy that this has happened. Sons dad took him to first aid at the park and they said quite a few children had come to them with injuries from the slide that weekend?!?! Does anybody know which funfair it was there?! And what do people think I should do?! I'm still so angry about this! I've added a picture of part of it after 3 days.

Oouch! That looks sore!
In my experience, this often happens on those inflatable slides so I think if you want to avoid it happening you should either keep your son away from them or only allow him to go on the ones which provide a sack to slide down in.

I was on one with my own son at the weekend and I got a friction burn on my elbow. I was a bit surprised this happened but I guess you slide at your own risk.
I hope your sons burns heal quickly.

Yowsers, that's horrid. I do always make sure my kids wear trousers on those slides but I'd be the first to admit I'm quite paranoid about that sort of thing. I think the slide people should tell you that if you've got bare skin you may get burns.

As an aside, when I was at school my friend broke her thumb on a bouncy castle and the guy in charge casually said to me, 'We get a broken bone every day'!!!!

I hope it heals up quickly poor boy.

My son went on the same slide at the formula e event - he came down once and looked very uncomfortable and said that it had hurt his skin, he was then offered a sack to sit in which he used for one go then had had enough. We were lucky he was not hurt - I hope your son is on the mend.

The staff were not recommending the kids used the sacks.

The same funfair is in battersea park most school holidays - it's definitely the same fair as I recognised the staff and had exactly the same rides. My son has been on that slide the last few times it's been in the park but when I think about it it was in the cooler months and last summer he would have been too young to go on it. We'll be staying clear of it in the summer.

They also change their tune on the age limit of the ride - one time we went the kids had to be 6, the next time they were letting 4 year olds on.
