Twin Buggies and Natural Deodorants

Postby uptheoctave » Fri Feb 25, 2011 4:37 pm

Hello everyone,

Please could any of you help? My friend is pregnant with twin girlies and is looking for a pram/buggy for as soon as they're born. She wants it so they're facing her, rather than outwards and she's prepared to spend up to about a grand. All the ones we've looked at have been either about fifteen hundred quid (too much) or just not practical. Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Also, my husband is a builder and has hitherto been using nasty, chemical laden anti-perspirants. He said he's willing to try natural, chemical-free alternatives if I get them for him but I can't find one anywhere because of this: he wants a spray-on. I bought him Green People pump one but he's not really getting on with it as - as I mentioned earlier - he's a builder so has an extremely sweat-inducing job :) .

Again, any suggestions would help enormously. Thanks everyone.

With the pushchair, I can recommend the one I've got, the Baby Jogger City Select. It's a one-in-front-of-the-other, rather than a side by side, but carrycot, pushchair seat and carseat can all be parent-facing.

I've had mine (with a newborn and toddler) for a couple of months and think it's fab.

Re deodorant - Pit Rok do a spray and I've heard that adidas do one without aluminium and parabens (it's called 24 hour but I would check when you buy that it is free of them as I haven't used it). The vast majority of 'natural' deodorants or those without aluminium are not anti-perspirants, therefore none of them will stop him from sweating.

Otherwise, I would go into a really good health food shop and have a browse - Wholefoods have a good selection as does the shop in Wimbledon (a few mins form the station). In my experience it's trial and error.

Hi

I've been using this deodorant for over 10 years and really rate it. I started using it when I read about all the scares of the chemicals in deodorant being linked to breast cancer.

OK on hot days or stressful days when I am in a suit and know I will sweat and I don't want it to show then I use an anit persperant but otherwise this pure deodorant does just the job and avoids nasty chemicals entering my body.

Hello,
I had twins 10 months ago and I used and still use the easy walker side by side, is very mnouvrable, it fits everywhere.
When they were really small I used the carry cots facing me now they faceforward.
If you are interested I can give you that carry cots for less than half the retail price they are brand new as I was very careful.
The pram is red so it suits boys or girls.
Few days ago a lady with an Icandy stopped me asking about the pram as she was not happy with hers.
If you need any suggestion about twins please get in touch with me willing to help

Wow! Thanks everyone! I'll try those deodorants - surely he'll have to to get along with at least one of them.

As for the double buggies, I spoke with my friend last night and gave her your suggestions but she has now said she's been down to one of the stores and tried pushing the said buggies about and feels they're all too cumbersome so wants something lighter as she doesn't feel the mother in law would cope so well with it. She's said she's going to compromise and not get one facing her as they're all too heavy. I know, I know, she's in for a surprise when they actually have *babies* in them but it's her call. I have a double buggy myself (baby and toddler) and I know how hard it can be but you just get on with it, eh?

But thank you so much for all your kind words and offers - it's really heart-warming to know you're all there :)

All the best,
Helen.
