We couldn't resist sharing this fantastic local story on NappyValleyNet.
What an incredible feat - look out for Tom's homecoming on Sunday and cheer him in!
On 17th January, 19-year-old Tom Davies set off from Ballingdon Road, SW11, attempting to be the youngest person to cycle around the world, although it will be an unofficial record as the Guinness World Records does not recognise "youngest to" achievements.
Tom is on his gap year and will be starting university this September. He was a pupil at Hornsby House School (where he also worked as a gap assistant during the Autumn term of 2014) and Emanuel School. He is using his challenge to raise money and awareness for three different charities: Sohana Research Fund (which funds research to find a cure for RDEB, an incurable skin condition), Prostate Cancer UK and Carney’s Community (based in Battersea), and has so far received over £40,000 in donations.
Tom has been cycling alone and unsupported. When he gets back, he will have cycled just over 18,000 miles in under seven months, and travelled through 21 countries en route via Europe, India, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, North America and back through Europe. He has averaged just over 100 miles each day and only taken a few rest days. On top of cycling, he has also written a short daily blog to keep his followers up-to-date with his progress.

Tom is due back on Sunday 9th August in Ballingdon Road at around 1.30pm. He will be cycling from Winchester, coming through Richmond Park, along Lower Richmond Road, Bolingbroke Grove, Broomwood Road, Wroughton Road, Kyrle Road and home! If you see him, give him a cheer, or join his family and friends in Ballingdon Road to cheer him in. (Meet time 1.15 to be sure not to miss his arrival).
