I love you! Indeed photography is undervalued nowadays, it's not just a click of the camera. Unfortunately some "photographers" are undermining the market. True, you usually get what you pay for...I would advise to find sessions for free if you are not expecting excellent pictures, at least you won't have had to pay for a bad job. You'll always get someone who will be willing to work for less - but generally you get what you pay for and photographers who charge low rates just make it harder for other photographers trying to make a decent living out of what is becoming an increasingly undervalued profession.
Sorry to be so negative when you just asked an honest question but I don't think Nappy Valley netters should be under the impression that £250 is a lot for all that work and skill. Try going to Venture if you want to see what some photographers charge!
