Belleville Waiting list Reception 2015 - will I get in?!

Postby PeanutButter » Mon Aug 17, 2015 8:16 pm

Hi, my boy is starting reception this September 2015. He's currently 5th on the waiting list for Belleville (started at 24). I keep getting told it's likely he will get into Belleville - does anyone have any experience of this from previous years? Currently not bought any uniform in case!

Also what are the settling in days and start date for Belleville. His current school is 14th September, I'm guessing it may be earlier than this?

Thank you

I reckon you will get in. We got in on the 3rd day of term last year and we were initially 34th on waiting list. There is a lot of movement when the kids start school. Good luck

Thanks Curly

Did your little one settle in ok even though they started after everyone else?
My little one doesn't know any other kids - and I don't know any other parents there - so a bit worried starting later than everyone else.
I'm hoping it will all work out!

She started about 3 days in to the term and she settled in really well. To be honest, they do a few half days and nothing really starts straight away so she was fine. I just really wanted her to go in in a uniform as we didn't have one so we borrowed a shirt and skirt so she fitted I until the uniform shop opened. Another friend had a child start after one term and she was worried but her son settled in really easily too. Don't worry. It will be fine.

Hi, the Wandsworth council school application booklet shows the first offer distance for 2015 reception places ( as at April 2015) being 474m. This extended to 554m when the booklet was published (august 2015).

I think there was a previous post providing the link to this, but if not just google, Wandsworth primary school admission.

This will still be extending as there are new offers for reception currently being made.

It does change every year - sometimes quite a lot, reflecting sibling numbers. 2015 catchment seems quite 'generous' and wider than at first offer stage in 2014.

I suspect the only way to be exact is to give the admissions team a buzz. They are usually pretty helpful.

Hi
Just to update the original post, my boy started number 24 on the Belleville waiting list in April and today he started the first day of term there. He got down to number 2 on the list and in the settling in day last week 2 kids didn't show so he got the final place number 30. Couldn't be happier!
We are 536m from Belleville. Only thing is he is at Meteor site which is 1.1miles away rather than the Webbs road site 400m away.
But it's really lovely and he had a fantastic first day.
So yes he got in - hooray!!

That's great. We are at Meteor too. Your son will love it.

thank you for your feedback. last thing if i may abuse of your patience: we are renting in the catchment (not landlords) only since august 2015 (my child starts next year, Sep 16). based on your experience is this a potential disadvantage or irrelevant in the selection process? thank you very much once again.

As long as when you apply (between now and Jan) then you are ok. Some schools check that you are legitimately living where you say you are but that doesn't happen until July
