Thanks

Hi mummag,

there is another post on here that was discussed yesterday which has some answers to your question.. see link:
http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/mums/view ... 15&t=69298

In short, I have only found one link for South London drop off: It is somebody organising the Calais convoy with drop off in Brixton. This is the link with some details and on that page you will find the updated list of what they need most and what not... in short they don't need kids' clothes for Calais at the moment.. mainly men's clothes, tents, toiletries, candles...

https://www.facebook.com/events/404640226402154/

If anybody knows any other charity/support action who needs kids' clothes for the refugees (perhaps there could be a convoy to Hungary, Greece, Italy... I don't know) please post.

Hello,

little update from me.. I have been in contact with a lady in Brixton who is helping organising the transport of donated goods to Calais, and they are now also busy with planning convoys to Greece and Italy.
Also, more and more drop off points are coming up every day as this is all grass roots and people who want to help just get in touch with this organisation.. :

So good news: there is now a drop off point in nappyvalley (in Battersea near Northcote Road) and to get in touch with the lady follow this link -
(it is working now):

If you want to get involved and have any of the below items to donate you can arrange drop off in Battersea for the Greece convoy through sending a message to the invisibleorg facebook site above:

"Updated list for Greece: Sneakers, gym shoes for men, women and children (all sizes/pls put new socks in the shoes and tie the shoe laces) are a HIGH PRIORITY
Jogging trousers
Briefs/underwear for men, women and children (all sizes)
Men’s trousers (small, medium and large) and shoes
Fleece jackets (all sizes)
Baby powder milk
Nappies for Babies
Hygiene Towels for Ladies
Sleeping bags
Plastic to cover the floor/for shade
Tents/tarpaulin
(Yoga)Mats (for sleeping)
Hats/caps for sunshade (all sizes/light colours because of the sun)
Beanies/gloves/scarves (because winter is getting near)
Electric Plug for several devices
WHAT MORE DO REFUGEES NEED?
Wifi network + sim cards. Please contact phone companies to provide a free wifi network and sim cards so people can be in touch with the world and with family and friends."

Thanks!!!

I have just posted this! The Brixton drop off is nearly at capacity but we have an sw11 one too I got in touch with yesterday :)

See below xx

Dear lovely local ladies

Met with a couple of gals yesterday morning for coffee and got talking about the refugee crisis... I have been slightly in denial at the gravity of the situation in my ' I can't handle the news it makes me cry' but this one I can't ignore. Yes the images made me cry but also made it real and I know I have to change my attitude and act in some way.

Really wanted to do something and it seems I can. Surprisingly locally. Went online and found 2 local drop off points, one in Brixton but they have too much now so the other is actually right here in sw11 on Bennerly road.

They have a list of items needed so please please take a look and pass on to anyone you can in the area. We all have so much, way too much, and I seem to have a lot of these items spare here anyway, and we have an attic of boxes of things like blankets and scarves etc that we really don't need....

Please do share this with friends and other local groups. It will make a huge difference to others lives

Just to confirm about The Bedford in Balham collecting things to send to refugees. We dropped off a few bags earlier today to the people serving behind the bar.

They say they're happy to take things in each and every day, so if the other collection points are too full, this is another good local place to go.

Dear NappyValley community,

I have noticed this thread, so I think it's the most appropriate place to post this:

There is an online petition created last week asking Wandsworth Council to look at offering whatever accommodation is possible to refugees.

Please take a look at the petition, which you can find here: http://bit.ly/1JUo2Ez , and consider signing it and forwarding to other Wandsworth residents you know; or re-posting to other local websites you know of.

The target is to reach 100 signatories - but let's even go beyond this limit to show the strength of our support! (e.g. Hackney has so far collected over 1,200 signatories).

Many thanks,

Aleyn

P.S. If you don't live in Wandsworth, there are other similar petitions, which you can view here: https://home.38degrees.org.uk/?s=refugees+welcome
