Dr Nikolaou C&W IVF - any experiences?

Postby Mummyabc » Thu Oct 08, 2015 7:59 am

Does anyone have any experiences of Dr Nikolaou based at C&W ACU? I have been done several rounds of clomid / gonal f but not the next step is IVF (private as I won't get funding). Unsure if I should stick with C&W or go to the Lister given I have been treated at C&W to date and have my follow up appointment with them already scheduled.

Hi there
I recently did IVF under supervision of Mr Nikolau and have mixed feelings!
The staff at C&W were fantastic and I really felt like they invested in my treatment, Mr Nikolau was part of that team also. Unfortunately however, it didn't work this time round.
I feel Mr Nikolau is a little too unstructured for my liking, if that makes sense, but only in our one to ones, not in practice. For instance in my follow up meeting, he had changed the protocol he would suggest for round 2, 3 times. Out of 3 meetings, he was late for 2 and made me repeat everything I had said in the first meeting, at the second.
So, if I had my time again, not sure he would have my vote but saying that, the care at C&W was amazing and the staff were all wonderful.
My first (successful) round was at Guys with Dr Khalid, the staff there weren't as good but the Consultant was fantastic.
Hope that helps.
Pls ask me anything else if I can help.

I did 2 rounds of IVF for secondary infertility. The 1st was at C+W under Mr Nikolaou, the 2nd at ARGC, where my 2nd child was conceived. They were hugely different. ARGC do daily blood tests, and prescribe different drugs depending on the results. There is also the controversial 'natural killer cells' blood test, with a drip to lower your immune system if necessary. My advice is that if money is no object, go with ARGC - it is very expensive, but they do get good results. The Lister had told me not to bother trying! Do pm me if you'd like to talk further (is that possible, never done it before?!). Really good luck, I feel for you

Hello. Only just seen this so it may be too late. I started at C&W and thought they were good as I didn't really know what to expect and to be honest thought it would work. Then went to the Lister, who really were lovely and highly professional. It is also Easy to get to, very professional and I could fit the appointments in around work.
After a number of failed attempts I ended up going hardcore and to the ARGC, which worked! But if you do, be prepared for the time and effort the ARGC takes but the result was worth it.
Happy to share experiences if it helps.
Best of luck.
